For this Creative Talk, we are excited to welcome artist Danny Fox and gallerist Hannah Barry for a special 'In Conversation' event. This talk will provide a unique opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of Fox’s artistic practice and creative processes. Through their discussion, they will explore the ideas and techniques behind his work, offering insight into the way he approaches his art. The conversation will also delve into Fox’s current exhibition, Kingdom, at The Levinsky Gallery, giving attendees a closer insight into the pieces on display and the themes that inform them. Danny Fox is a painter based in St Ives, Cornwall. Hannah Barry is a London-based gallerist and founder of the Hannah Barry Gallery and Bold Tendencies. The conversation will be chaired by Mary Costello, Exhibitions Programme Curator at The Levinsky Gallery. Due to popular demand, Plymouth’s favourite (only) comedy walking tour is going back indoors! Join three multi-award winning comedians for an evening of stand-up and silliness as they explore the lighter side of life in Britain’s Ocean City. It’s daft, funny and not to be missed. In 2021, three Plymouth comedians were forced out of work by the pandemic. In an attempt to stay sane and put spicy spuds on the table they banded together to create Plymouth Comedy Tours. A walking tour company with the difference where they took groups around the city, telling jokes rather than facts. Three years on Plymouth Comedy Tours have welcomed over 1000 guests, been given over 150 five-star Tripadvisor reviews and has been featured on BBC Radio 4’s Front Row as a cultural highlight in the city. Now, they have decided to bring the PCT magic indoors! After two sell out shows in November 2024, our three comics will return to the stage at the Barbican Theatre to explore a different side of Plymouth. Following a successful showcase in 2024, the two-day festival returns on 24th and 25th May with eight shows by local artists spanning theatre, comedy, music and performance . Performance storyteller Henry Everett brings wild tales from Ancient Greece of the Great God Pan. Deep in the wilds of Arcadia, the first ever Satyr, Pan is born. He is to become God of pasture, overlord of wild creatures, ruler of solitary places. He will save the Gods in Olympus and change all life on Earth, yet his tale is a tragedy. Another Another World is a poetic reflection on the transformation of St Ives, Cornwall, over the past 70 years. Inspired by the 1950s documentary Another World, this film revisits the town’s legacy as a haven for artists and fishermen, capturing the evolving identity of a place once romanticised for its idyllic simplicity. Another Another World explores the cultural shifts that have shaped St Ives – from the counterculture movement of the 1960s to the rise of surf culture in the 1970s and 1980s, the impact of housing booms and rural poverty, the decline of traditional industries, and its eventual global recognition in the art world. The film culminates in the present day, observing those who continue to live and create in the town. Written and narrated by Danny Fox and directed by Jackson Whitefield, Another Another World is not a remake but a conversation with its predecessor, offering a contemporary meditation on place, memory and change. Celebrate Beltane - the return of sun and warmth, of Fertility and fire and flowers - with a creative workshop and guided meditation at historic Graye's Greenhouse led by Gabi Gibson of Junepeace Rainbow. Chest X-ray – Image interpretation and abnormality detection study day The Chest X-ray – Image interpretation and abnormality detection study day is a one day course aimed at Diagnostic Radiographers and other health professionals who encounter Chest x-rays on a regular basis, consolidating and developing knowledge and skills to support interpretation and clinical evaluation. About this event The Chest X-ray - Image interpretation and abnormality detection study day is primarily aimed at registered radiographers working and evaluating images in the acute hospital setting, although its suitable for other registered healthcare professional who encounter and interpret x-ray images as part of their scope of practice. The study day has been designed to equip practitioners with the skills and confidence to provide initial interpretation of chest x-rays to develop knowledge and skills in pattern recognition and image interpretation in support of patient management. Participants will develop an understanding of the importance of making first line interpretation of images in support of patient management to reduce error rates, leading to a reduction in mismanagement and patient recalls. The identification of pathology and the escalation of critical and significant findings is vital to assist in expediting care of patients for those at more urgent clinical need. The study day will comprise of 4 lectures in the morning which provide a systematic approach to image interpretation, relevant anatomy, pathology and imaging appearances and diagnostic quality. In the afternoon participants will rotate through 2 image-based workshops where the theoretical knowledge taught in the morning can be applied in practice in smaller groups using a blended approach to teaching incorporating collaborative discussion. All image interpretation sessions and lectures will be delivered by experienced clinical reporting radiographers from the South West.
