We are delighted to announce that bestselling author Glenda Young will be joining us at Beeforth's Hive to discuss her Cosy Crime series set in Scarborough and featuring the crime sleuthing adventures of B&B owner Helen Dexter. Glenda will be in conversation with our poet in residence Charlotte Oliver as they discuss her writing inspirations, colourful characters and deep connection with Scarborough ahead of the much anticipated publication of the fourth book in the series Deadly Dancing at the Seaview Hotel. There will also be an audiance Q&A and a raffle with the chance to win a set of the first three novels . Glenda will be available after her talk to sign her books and some copies will be available for purchase at the event. It doesn't matter if your a seasoned fan of the series or new to Glenda's writing everyone is invited to join us but places are limited so booking is essential. About Glenda Young: Glenda has loved writing since she was a child. Her bestselling northeast sagas and Scarborough cosy crimes are published by Headline. She is an award-winning short story writer and has written TV tie-in books for ITV's Coronation Street. She is also the creator of Riverside, the first soap opera to appear in The Peoples Friend, the longest running women's magazine in the world. Glenda was one of six finalists in the coveted Dick Clement and Ian La Frenais Comedy Award. During lockdown when she couldn't get out to research, Glenda turned to crime! Her Scarborough cosy crimes were shortlisted in the Dead Good Readers' Awards 2022 for the Best New Crime Series in their New Kid on the Block category with Richard Osman and Val McDermid. Create your own stunning hand embroidered landscape. This creative, inspiring workshop will take you through how to select, layer and piece fabrics together to create the background for your chosen landscape. Moving on, details are built up using a range of hand embroidery stitches, embellishments and a variety of threads. By the end of the workshop, you’ll have created your own landscape to frame or use for various projects. If you have a particular landscape you would like to recreate, please bring an image with you. This can be on a phone or other device or printed. Each workshop participant will receive a beautifully curated gift box so that the creativity can continue after the workshop finishes. Suitable for people of all levels of embroidery experience, from complete beginners to the more accomplished embroiderer. All materials are provided, however if you have particular threads or fabrics you would like to use please feel free to bring them with you.
