Bluebird in the BlueBeard‘s Room | Seoul
Oct 24–Nov 6, 2024 (UTC+9)ENDED
Seoul
Exploring human nature, analyzing behavior and its products are important tasks for art and philosophy. However, recently, modern society is full of complex and contradictory phenomena that cannot be explained by simple past explanations. From a poststructuralist perspective, we begin to discover various cases through the media that allow us to understand more deeply the contradictions inherent in human life and social relations. This exhibition aims to reinterpret the complexity of modern society through the metaphor of "cruel fairy tales" and expand the symbols in fairy tales to the contemporary context. The metaphors of disability and prejudice revealed in the lines of the domestic TV series "It's Okay to Be Bad 2020" are an important starting point for the symbolic approach of this exhibition. Starting from the character's question "Is it terrible to be different?", the story of difference and fear, understanding and acceptance is linked to the fairy tale of Bluebeard, and the scene reflects the prejudices and fears of modern people. Since then, the story of Bluebeard has begun to be interpreted no longer as a simple cruel fairy tale, but as an important work symbolizing the story of women breaking taboos and gender conflicts. For example, works such as the music video of singer Le Seraphim's "Eve, Psyche and Bluebeard's Wife" and the Naver webtoon "I Became Bluebeard's Wife" are now reinterpreted in various cultural contents. This exhibition visually explores these themes through the collection of famous artists at home and abroad, such as In-ok Kim, Hwan-ki Kim, Seo-bo Park, U-hwan Lee, Seung-taek Jang, Nancy Lang, and David Gerstein.

Lee Kang So: When the wind comes over the water | MMCA (National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art) Seoul
Nov 1, 2024–Apr 13, 2025 (UTC+9)ENDED
Seoul
The
exhibition "Lee Kang So: When the Wind Blows the Water" re-examines a
unique series of works created over six decades by Lee Kang So (b.
1943), a seminal figure in the development of Korean contemporary art. As
a leading artist in the Korean art scene, Lee Kang So has been
conducting conceptual experiments on image perception and recognition. The
exhibition title "When the Wind Blows the Water" is inspired by the
work "Qing Ye Yin" by the Song Dynasty Neo-Confucianist Shao Yong (Shao
Yong, 1011-1077). In his work, Shao Yong metaphorically describes a state of epiphany when encountering a new world. Shao
Yong's title summarizes the oeuvre of Lee Kang So, who has long
questioned the many different ways we see the world around us and
continues to conduct conceptual experiments on perception in a variety
of media such as painting, sculpture, installation, printmaking, video
and photography. Lee Kang So's artistic philosophy, as he himself described his work for the 1975 Paris Biennale, is described in this way. At
the time he said: “I do not intend to depict images in a traditional
way, away from the subject-object relationship, but rather to present an
open structure that reveals the order and relationships in the universe
that are usually invisible, making these invisible states naturally
visible.” (“Participating in the 9th Paris Biennale”, Space, January
1976)

The Osgemeos tag is the alphabet used by street graffiti artists to identify themselves and their work. In the following years, the alphabet took on many forms until today, the famous duo uses the iconic yellow square letter with a flat top and a round bottom.

CHEF | Seoul
ENDED
Seoul
Chef Show is director Choi Cheol-ki’s new film. The entire performance consists of four food competitions: Japanese (sushi), Italian (pizza), Chinese (noodles), and Korean (bibimbap), centered on the cooking contest between Red Chef and Green Chef. . The story is very simple. At first it may feel like it's just nothing. But as the plot unfolds scene by scene, waves of surprise always keep you looking forward to the next moment. There is love, there is story, and there is beautiful light and shadow. The stage performance is a combination of hip-hop music, sometimes witty and lively, sometimes romantic and warm, and all the settings are unconventional, giving the audience a panoramic fashion and shock like an MTV photo.
