Nov. 11, 2023–Nov. 30, 2027 | Renowned American artist Betye Saar’s large-scale work “Drifting Toward Twilight”—commissioned by The Huntington—is a site-specific installation that features a 17-foot-long vintage wooden canoe and found objects, including birdcages, antlers, and natural materials harvested by Saar from The Huntington’s grounds.

Egypt’s 26th Dynasty (664–526 BCE) was a period of revival and renewal. It marks the last great phase of native pharaonic rule in ancient Egypt and is notable for its exceptional artworks, particularly stone sculpture. The achievements of Egyptian artists of this period are vividly expressed in the sculpted portraits of officials associated with the court and priesthood, which were created to be displayed in tombs and temples. A Traveler’s Guide to Mettlach: Villeroy and Boch showcases everyday life in the 1800s Mettlach, Germany. Scenes of everyday life in Mettlach have been documented and celebrated by Villeroy and Boch, a ceramic production company founded in 1836 when Jean François Boch and Nicolas Villeroy merged their ceramic businesses into what is now known as Villeroy and Boch. The workers of the Mettlach factory came from diverse backgrounds, including art studios, archives, and museums. The varied backgrounds of the factory workers contributed to the artistic achievements of the Villeroy and Boch company. The Mettlach collection reflects German cultural experiences, societal interpretations, and mythology. This exhibition shows scenes of love and relationships as well as larger themes of fantasy, offering an all-encompassing snapshot of the myriad facets of human life within Mettlach. A Traveler’s Guide to Mettlach, on view in the Robert and Colette Wilson Gallery through June 2025, presents concepts of life, laughter, relationships, and the day-to-day existence of the German people.

Congratulations to all athletes who have been invited to participate in the prestigious 4th Annual All Bowl Senior Showcase event, known as ALL OUT BOWL 4. This highly anticipated game will take place on January 13, 2024, at the renowned East Los Angeles College in Monterey Park, California. ALL OUT BOWL 4 offers a unique opportunity for athletes to showcase their talent in front of college recruiters. Throughout the practices and on game day, recruiters will be present to evaluate your performance. Additionally, the game will be broadcasted online, providing further exposure to potential recruiters. Coached by Monty Gibreath from Gardena High School and Corey Thedford from Hawthorne High School, both esteemed coaches in their respective leagues, this game promises to be an incredible experience. But the benefits of ALL OUT BOWL 4 extend beyond just the game. Each athlete will have the chance to participate in a Showcase that will be shared with major college programs nationwide. This exposure to D1-FBS, D1-FCS, D2, D3, NAIA, and JUCO programs can open doors to the next level of your athletic career. To secure your spot in this prestigious event, be sure to complete the registration process promptly. The cost for this unforgettable experience is $75, with a $50 deposit due by December 27th and the final payment by January 11th. Leading up to the game, practices will be held from January 2nd to January 12th, ensuring that all players are well-prepared. The final walk-thrus will take place on January 12th. Please note that there are limited roster spots available, with only 35-40 athletes per team. We are particularly interested in players who can excel in multiple positions. To ensure a seamless experience, we kindly ask all players to come prepared with their own helmet, mouthpiece, shoulder pads, and any additional equipment they may require. QBs and kickers should also bring their own balls. Trainers will be present at the game site, offering taping services, but athletes must bring their own tape. Additionally, players are required to provide their own medical insurance, although additional coverage can be purchased if needed. We value the academic success of our athletes, and to further support your future endeavors, we have partnered with MBA Sports. They will provide a prospect questionnaire that will be shared with college coaches, answering any initial inquiries they may have. We encourage all athletes to complete this questionnaire.
