Stage Sprouts: Afterschool Theatre Program Come join us at the Dexter Southfield School for an exciting and fun-filled theatre program designed for young aspiring actors and actresses! Our afterschool program offers kids ages 5-11 the opportunity to learn about acting, improv, stage presence, and more in a supportive and creative environment. Let your child's creativity blossom on stage with Stage Sprouts! Don't miss out on this fantastic opportunity to nurture their love for the performing arts as they work to create a staged production to share with an audience. The program will meet every Thursday for 8 weeks from 3:45pm-5:45pm in the Gui Building on the Dexter Southfield campus. Registration is open to students ages 5-11. She is part of the Performing Arts faculty in all three divisions and the Chair of the Middle School Arts Department. Additionally, each year Janet is the director of both Upper School productions as well as the middle school spring musical. She is the Theatre Director for the Dexter Southfield Summer Musical Theatre camp and the Owner of One Strong Voice Productions. Elizabeth Garfield serves as the Lower School Theatre Faculty at Dexter Southfield. Passionate about arts education, she enjoys teaching students from elementary to university level. Join New Art Center and our Guest Artist Jane Kim-Testa for a celebration of Lunar New Year! This year is the year of the Blue Snake in the Korean calendar, or Wood Snake in the Chinese calendar. The Year of the Blue Snake is a year for wisdom, intuition, creativity, and personal growth! Art educators will lead participants through different make-and-take activities: origami snake, Korean kite coloring, lucky pouches, and Chinese calligraphy (featuring a demonstration by Ren Li Song). Performances include: Music by the Greater Boston Chinese Cultural Association's (GBCCA) music ensemble, at 1:30pm. More performances to be announced soon! This event is FREE for all, thanks to our sponsors. ATTENDANCET he event is free and open to the public. The event is from 12 to 4 PM. Doors open 15 minutes beforehand. We will be photographing this event and by registering, you agree that there is a possibility you may be photographed and the resulting images used for marketing purposes (in email, social media, print, and on our website). The 2025 Art in the Loop Project: Wonder call for visual & performing artists is now available. Visual artists working in two or three dimensions, as well as social practice, are encouraged to apply. Performing artists working in dance, song or poetry, as well as social practice, are encouraged to apply.
