Rise & Run Detroit Sunday Run Club: Come join us for a Sunday Run Club at lululemon Grosse Pointe Pop-Up hosted by Rise & Run Detroit on 1/5/25 from 10:30am-Noon. Rise & Run Detroit launched in January 2024 as an inclusive Friday morning run/walk community, designed to provide a scenic, enjoyable, and safe movement experience for people of all fitness levels. Built on 5 core values—Safety, Community, Gratitude, Joyful Movement, and Self-love—this community welcomes everyone to move together and celebrate the joy of fitness. Lace up your running shoes and come join Rise & Run to celebrate their one year anniversary. All levels are welcome for a 5k from 10:30-11am, a private shop from 11am-Noon with light snacks & refreshments back at lululemon Grosse Pointe Pop Up. Whether you're an experienced runner or new to running, everyone is invited to join the fun! Come hit the pavement with fellow fitness enthusiasts. Established in 1914 and on the National Register of Historic Places the Grosse Pointe Yacht Club is a premier yacht club consistently ranked in the top five of yacht clubs in the United States. The regatta is being held at GPYC's dedicated sailing center utilizing the club's new E420 fleet. The sailing center offers excellent viewing for participants, their families, and friends. Families of participants are welcome to experience the club's amenities via a guest pass and credit card. Guest passes can be obtained upon arrival at GPYC. Illustrator Francis Vallejo Draw-Along & Conversation Come join us for a unique event at Coreander's Children's Bookshoppe! Meet the talented local illustrator, Francis Vallejo, as he shares his creative process and leads a draw-along. Copies of Jazz Day will be on hand and can be signed during the event. Don't miss this chance to connect with a fantastic illustrator in person! Author Bio: Francis Vallejo is an award-winning, Detroit native, Mexican-American artist whose works have been exhibited in major national publications, art galleries, and museums. Vallejo earned his Bachelor’s degree from Ringling College of Art + Design and his M.A. from Savannah College of Art + Design. He has since created artworks for a host of notable clients and exhibits. Vallejo’s Jazz Day, written by Roxane Orgill and published by Candlewick Press, was the recipient of the Boston Globe Horn Book award for Best Picture Book. His illustrated book, Anansi Boys, written by Neil Gaiman, and published by The Folio Society, has won Spectrum Gold, the D&AD Pencil, and other awards. He recently received a prestigious 2023 Kresge Visual Arts Fellowship. He currently serves as Section Lead & Associate Professor of Illustration at the College for Creative Studies.
