Back by popular demand! Tuff Love Self-Defense and Compassion In Oakland are hosting another edition of our popular Free 8-Week Intro to Self-Defense Workshop Series at Four Elements Fitness gym. Discover what our minds, voices, and bodies can do. Learn how to protect yourself in a safe, supportive and empowered environment! Tuff Love Self-Defense’s FREE 8-WEEK INTRO TO SELF-DEFENSE WORKSHOP SERIES teaches awareness and safety strategies to avoid assaults before they happen. You’ll also learn effective physical techniques addressing the most common attack situations: being pushed or pulled, punched, cornered, grabbed by the wrist and hair, choked, or pinned to the ground. Rather than relying on strength, you will learn principles of leverage, timing and energy efficiency to defend against a stronger assailant. Regardless of your age, size, strength or physical ability, you can learn the techniques of self-defense while gaining an increased sense of personal confidence and empowerment. Classes are designed to teach a specific self-defense technique with skills building over the 8 weeks. Class includes warm-up exercises, discussion of safety principles, and instruction in a specific self-defense technique practiced with a partner. Class ends with drills to build confidence and strengthen reflexes. Tuff Love Self-defense & Bay Area Superheroes present: LGBTQ+ Safety & Self-Defense Workshop Tuff Love Self-Defense, Four Elements Fitness and Bay Area Superheroes are thriilled to host another FREE safety and self-defense training. Make some new friends, learn skills to keep yourself and your community safe, and leave feeling more confident and empowered! We Protect Us. During this two-hour interactive training, you’ll learn how to protect yourself in a safe, supportive and empowered environment. This event will teach awareness and safety strategies to avoid assaults before they happen. You’ll also learn effective physical techniques addressing the most common attack situations: being pushed or pulled, cornered, rushed at or grab. Rather than relying on strength, you will learn principles of leverage, timing and energy efficiency to defend against a stronger assailant. Regardless of your age, size, strength or physical ability, you can learn the techniques of safety and self-defense while gaining an increased sense of personal confidence and empowerment. While perpetrators of violence hold sole responsibility for the decision to assault someone, individuals can take effective steps to increase their own safety. Learning what our minds, voices, and bodies can do, recognizing that we are worth defending, and giving ourselves permission to stay safe emotionally and physically is a powerful and transformative experience. Class includes warm-up exercises, discussion of safety principles, and instruction in specific self-defense techniques. No experience necessary and no equipment required.
