Every year, a tug-of-war competition is held in Naha, Okinawa Prefecture, on the Sunday before National Sports Day, attracting thousands of participants and even larger spectators. This event has been listed in the Guinness Book of World Records since 1997 and is recognized as the world's largest tug-of-war competition, with the rope weighing 40 tons and measuring 200 meters long. With up to 15,000 participants on each side, the tug-of-war is a grand and spectacular gathering.
