May 4, 2025 (UTC+0)
Norwich
Pulp Flicks Presents: The Big Lebowski – Sunday 4th May at The Bowlinghouse Norwich Get ready for The Big Lebowski, the Coen Brothers’ cult classic that throws you headfirst into the bizarre world of Jeffrey The Dude Lebowski. When a simple mix-up lands him in a mess of nihilists, missing toes, and all sorts of terrible decisions, The Dude’s only response is to crack open a White Russian, crank up some Credence, and take it all in stride. It’s a twisted, laugh-out-loud ride through a cast of characters you’ll never forget – with a soundtrack that’s just as iconic as the film. Kick things off with a free round of bowling at 7pm, then stick around for the film at 8pm. White Russians are only £6, or add nachos and get both for £12. presents
Patrick Hemmerlé - Piano
Thursday, 8th May at 1:00 pm
The Assembly House, Norwich
Programme
Ravel
- Pavane pour une Infante Défunte
- Jeux d'Eau
- Gaspard de la Nuit
- Tombeau de Couperin
Patrick Hemmerlé is one of Europe’s most enigmatic pianists. Refusing to follow musical traditional conventions, he has forged a unique path in the musical world which leaves him free to immerse himself with singular dedication into the repertoire and musical expression resonating with his most profound convictions. The results are interpretations of startling insight and originality. By performing all 24 Chopin Etudes or 24 of Bach’s Preludes and Fugues in a single concert, as well as championing lesser-known composers he feels a deep affinity for, he has developed a reputation as an original with something out of the ordinary to say.
A charismatic speaker, he is able to elucidate the musical concepts close to his heart in a manner that both mirrors and complements his piano playing. Not comfortable with compromise, he engages with his audience from the keyboard with an energy and integrity that leaves no-one in doubt as to his musical intentions.
French-born, trained at the Conservatoire de Paris under Billy Eidi, and laureate of many international piano competitions, he now lives in Cambridge, England, where he has built up a loyal following. He performs all over the world and recent engagements have taken him to New York, Berlin, Paris, Vienna and Prague and China. He has published 5 CDs. Patrick is a member of Clare Hall, Cambridge University, where he is in charge of the concert programme.

Electric Eel Shock + Clown Smash Everything and Lease On Life | Voodoo Daddy's
May 16, 2025 (UTC+1)
Norwich
Electric Eel Shock
are a glorious celebration of Classic Rock, Punk and Metal. A true power trio from the time before rock became fractured into a diverse multitude of sub-genres and we were all still one big happy Rock & Roll family.
“Mixing dark fuzzy stoner rock riffs with classic rock sensibilities and addictive song-writing hooks,
EES
occupy the gaping void somewhere between
Queens Of The Stoneage
,
AC/DC
and
Black Sabbath
.”
-
Kerrang
“You’d have to be the most miserable of metal purists or the ultimate elitist trend follower not to allow yourself to simply enjoy this band…”
-
Classic Rock
“The true triumph of Electric Eel Shock is that they put on a show that can be equally enjoyed by metal’s fanatics and its detractors. This is more than just a rock show – it’s a complete entertainment package.”

Slung | Voodoo Daddy's Showroom
May 17, 2025 (UTC+1)
Norwich
Slung’s debut album ‘In Ways’ is a collaborative combustion of its members’ experiences, circumstances and supreme musicianship. Their sonic universe - comprising the power of guitarist Ali Johnson’s incendiary riffs, vocalist Katie Oldham’s enviable dynamic and tonal range, bassist Vlad Matveikov’s undulating, yet grounding basslines and drummer Ravi Martin’s expert rhythmic punctuation - is a veritable musical supernova.
Katie’s storytelling and the compelling way she brings together personal, lived experience with more abstract, conceptual ideas and characters is evident throughout ‘In Ways’. Its ribcage-rattling opening track ‘Laughter’ is
“about a face-off that’s been a long time coming, and the difficult relationships we can have with members of our family, especially our parents,”
Katie explains.
“When we’re children, we’re so desperate for our parents' attention and approval that their dismissal / rejection can feel agonising. With an emotionally absent parent, trying desperately to earn love or consideration from someone who isn’t capable of giving it can be so destructive.”
Elsewhere on the album, Katie’s inspirations range from sex workers and the power dynamics that come along with that profession (‘Class A Cherry’) to the tragic occurrences of bull fights in Spain (‘Matador’).
Musical influences within the Slung camp are far reaching, with the band’s members referencing artists from Deftones and Baroness, to Wednesday and MJ Lenderman, to Queens of the Stone Age and even a sprinkling of Chappell Roan and Fleetwood Mac.

Beddy Rays + SNAKEMILK and The Reverse Cowboys | Voodoo Daddy's
May 19, 2025 (UTC+1)
Norwich
Beddy Rays started making music together soon after they first met on the primary school oval back in the day. The release of weekend anthem ‘Sobercoaster’ in 2020 really started shaking things up for these fun-loving larrikins. The cracker of a tune echoed throughout backyards of Australia during triple j’s Hottest 100 of 2020 and has now amassed over 11 million streams.
It’s an understatement to say that 2022 was a massive milestone year for the band. Their highly anticipated and fully independent debut self-titled album landed them Spotlight Album on triple j and peaked at No. 8 on the ARIA Album Chart (as well as No.1 Vinyl and No. 2 Australian Album in release week). The band was nominated for ‘Breakthrough Artist’ at the 2022 ARIAs and lead single ‘Handful’ came in at #87 in the Hottest 100 of 2022. There were no signs of slowing these four down in 2023. They kicked the year off with appearances at Falls Festival and Splendour in the Grass, international tours and landed #17 in the Hottest 100 Like a Versions of all time.
These days it’s almost impossible not to recognise a Beddy Rays track, as their music has become a distinctive and carefully curated recipe involving all the right ingredients: heartfelt lyrics, huge hooks, mosh-worthy riffs and a lingering sense of comradery and good vibes that underpins everything they create. With humble personalities and a knack for knowing how to have a bloody good time, everyone wants to be friends with Beddy Rays.
