Bay Area Heat Mapping Campaign Recap x Cool Cities Coalition Launch Climate change is increasing the severity and frequency of extreme heat events. Our planet, our cities, and our communities are only going to get hotter. Last summer, the Palo Alto Student Climate Coalition partnered with NOAA to conduct the 2024-2025 Bay Area Heat Mapping Campaign to map the distribution of extreme heat in Palo Alto, East Palo Alto, and Menlo Park. The data collected highlighted hot spots throughout the cities where cooling solutions (like expanding tree canopy) are most needed. The campaign leaders are now launching the Cool Cities Coalition , an organization focused on deploying cooling solutions and bringing cities together to build resilience to extreme heat. We are working to build relationships with city leaders and design and implement effective policy. The CCC is kicking off the summer with the 2025 Extreme Heat Summit , a gathering of City officials, Council members, staff, emergency preparedness experts, activists as well as residents in an effort to explore best practices for protecting our cities against the rising threat of extreme heat. Join us on Sunday, August 17th from 1-3pm at the Cooley Landing Education Center in East Palo Alto for engaging conversations and a free lunch from VeggieGrill. The 2025 Extreme Heat Summit will feature a panel of City officials and scientists, followed by an interactive Q&A and comment section to solicit feedback and ideas from residents . This convening will bring leaders across the Bay Area together to share creative ideas to build community climate resilience. The full report of the data collection from the 2024-25 Bay Area heat Mapping Campaign can be found here: Heat Mapping - Full Report Heat Mapping Data Story map designed by Stanford’s Sustainable Cities class Heat Mapping Presentation to Palo Alto City Council Heat Mapping Campaign Website with additional resources Information Source: 2024 Bay Area Heat Mapping Campaign | eventbrite

These are applied by attaching tiny wefts of hair,  to small sections of the natural hair with a small silicone-lined bead. Then, a special tool is used to secure the bead to the hair and tightened to hold it. Braidless Sew In a technique that is used to create a sew in without having to braid the hair. Fusion U Tips  is a type of human hair extensions that is shaped like a U and is applied to the hair by heating up, it is also called Hot Fusion hair extensions. U Tip hair extensions are long term hair extensions that you wear day and night for several months. Tape Ins  are pre-taped and then taped/glued together with a piece of natural hair in between. Brazilian Knots   is composed of hair that is sewn onto a horizontal strip, or weft. Stylists can “sew” the weft into your hair by pairing small portions of the extension’s strands with small batches of your own strands and securing it with a bead at the “roots. Proper education should come from an actual extension artist with behind-the-chair, real-life years of experience. It allows anyone with the proper training to provide their clients with a Hyaluronic Acid Treatment. This can be done on lips, deep lines and provides a revitalization treatment for the face. HA forms a super hydrating net over the skin and delivers water to parched skin over time. Hyaluronic Acid is known to have an amazing water-binding capacity, making it ideal for skin hydration and that means the skin is continuously hydrated, plump and healthy. HA TREATMENTS ARE NOW A REALITY THANKS TO ADVANCES IN TECHNOLOGY. USING HYALURONIC ACID BASED PRODUCTS, OUR CUTTING EDGE TECHNIQUE CAN TRANSFORM YOUR SERVICES YOU OFFER TO YOUR CLIENTS. What is involved in the procedure? The procedure is quite simple and the HA used is safe as the human body produces the exact same acid, it is pretty impossible that anyone would get any sort of allergic reaction or complication from the HA itself. The more Hyaluronic Acid there is inside the Epidermis layer of the skin, the more water is retained keeping its moisture and making the appearance of the skin more youthful. Hyaluron Pen … applies HA. How much can you charge for the procedure? Based on your state, area of location and techniques you do. Welcome to the 4th Annual Upscale Pub Crawl Fundraiser ! The Foundation’s 4th Annual Upscale Pub Crawl celebrating Banned Books Week is October 8, 2025. The theme, as announced by the American Library Association (ALA) and the Banned Books Week Coalition, is: “Censorship Is So 1984. Read for Your Rights,” using George Orwell’s "1984" as a warning about the dangers of censorship. This year’s theme is a stark reminder that the right to read belongs to all of us, that censorship has no place in contemporary society, and that we must act to defend our rights. Starting at the Library, stroll through downtown Redwood City with fellow RCLF supporters and enjoy libations at over a dozen establishments. Each pub will feature two banned books and a RCLF volunteer to answer questions and celebrate with you and your group. Your ticket will entitle you to discounted drink and small bites. Please drink responsibly and taste on a full stomach. We open check-in one hour before the event so you can grab a bite at one of our great restaurants before heading out. Plan for a safe ride home. Banned Books Week is an annual event celebrating the freedom to read. Join us to fight attempts to censor books in schools and libraries, to support downtown merchants, and to back the Library. Pubs included will be announced as we get closer to the event. Buy your tickets now to be first in line for this year's t-shirt! Information Source: Redwood City Library Foundation | eventbrite
