Although you are proud of your Duolingo streak, every time you try to speak Dutch person you inevitably switch back to English. Learning a language means you have to make mistakes, and that’s just not fun… right? In Improv Your Dutch, it is all about fun. And mistakes. Through games and exercises from improvised theater, you will speak Dutch without focusing on grammar, word order or whether to use ‘de’ or ‘het’. It’s about trying it out, laughing, and surprising yourself. What will happen in the course?We will start by getting to know each other and warming up our body and brain. Every class focuses on a theme inspired by improv- like emotions, playing characters, or “pretending like you know something when you actually don’t”. You will work alone, in pairs and in groups. You will learn by doing and by watching others.The classes are taught in Dutch, with some English translations whenever necessary. That sounds scary!Yes, of course it is scary! Learning a language is scary, and making mistakes is too. That is why I focus on safety and positivity in class. I will cheer you on from the side and will ask your classmates to do the same. If we understand what the other player means, that is more than enough. Of course you might speak slowly or with imperfect grammer. If you’re already perfect at Dutch, there’s no need to improve it! All levels or Dutch and all levels of improv are welcome. Usually, the class is a mix of levels (and it’s the most fun that way). This course runs for 8 weeks, from Sept 16 - Nov 4, with a showcase on Nov 11.

DAT! Jeugdtheater voorstelling : Professor S. (7+) Kom gezellig naar DAT!school voor een te gekke jeugdtheatervoorstelling genaamd Professor S. Een ‘Ted Talk’ voor kinderen over het brein! Over de voorstelling
Professor S. (7+) Simie, de assistent van de Grote Professor S., reist met zijn voorbeeld-brein door het land. Hij geeft een wervelende les over het brein aan iedereen die het maar wil horen. Hij vertelt over zenuwen en verbindingen, over bewegen, over eten en over dingen vergeten. Maar waar was hij nou gebleven? Zijn praatje loopt in de soep als hij steeds maar weer wordt onderbroken omdat zijn oma belt. En dan raakt oma ook nog kwijt! Professor S. is een verbluffend realistische, maar ook muzikale en humoristische voorstelling over het brein. De voorstelling is geïnspireerd door de kinderboekenserie van Erik Scherder, Fred Diks en Mariëlla van de Beek. Scherder kreeg als hoogleraar neuropsychologie landelijke bekendheid door zijn humoristische en bijzondere colleges bij DWDD. De kern van zijn werk is het belang van bewegen en muziek. Social Stories Training | Countess Wear Community School
This practical training course is designed for those who want to create social stories for children with autism. Participants will gain the skills to write effective social stories using Carol Gray’s renowned framework and receive guidance from the trainer to craft their own stories.
Social stories, developed by Carol Gray, are a proven, evidence-based strategy to help autistic learners and those with social communication disorders understand what to expect and what is expected in various situations. This course will teach participants the essential features of a social story, its applications, and how to write them effectively for the children they work with.
Trainer
Lisa has over 20 years' experience in the field of Autism and is a parent of a young person diagnosed with Asperger’s syndrome. Lisa has a BA Honours degree 1st Class in Childhood and Youth Studies (Open University) and a Post Graduate Diploma and Certificate in Autism from the University of Birmingham. In addition, she has attended numerous training workshops including P.E.C.S. (Picture Exchange Communication System), social stories and the use of visual prompts, sensory processing difficulties, managing anxiety and sexual understanding.
Lisa has worked with young people on the spectrum in a variety of settings including education, social care and the local community. She provides training and advisory services to a range of professionals for the education and care sector.
