Join the Photographic Matter + Nature Connection Workshop with artists Renee Royale and Lilia Kapsali-Grant for a unique and immersive experience at the Frenchtown Conservation Area in Central, LA. Through nature connection and place-based Polaroid photography, participants will explore pathways to grounding and a grounded creative practice. This workshop is perfect for art and nature enthusiasts looking to cultivate practices of connection, care, and understanding of place.
During the workshop, Renee Royale will guide participants in connecting with the surrounding environment, capturing photographs that reflect their personal connection. These photographs will then be developed using locally gathered water, earth, plant matter, and personal objects in a collaborative process. The resulting images will be exhibited in libraries and on LSU's campus, showcasing the beauty and connection fostered through this workshop.
Renee Royale, an artist, writer, curator, and digital strategist, is dedicated to diversifying experiences and relationships within the art world. Her visual storytelling incorporates various mediums such as medium format and Polaroid films, found materials, mixed media, performance art, and video. Lilia Kapsali-Grant, a Nature-Connected Coach and writer, holds a Master's degree in Outdoor Environmental and Sustainability Education. Through meditation, journaling, poetry, and art, she invites participants to deepen their relationship with the land during nature-connection sessions in Baton Rouge.
