A 90-minute tour includes a guided walk through the Wilket Creek Ravine to discover the beauty and also the challenges faced by urban green spaces. You will enjoy a guided walk through the Toronto Botanical Garden and into Wilket Creek which connects to Toronto’s expansive ravine system. You’ll learn about the plants, history, wildlife, and ecological importance of Toronto’s wild spaces. These tours are for individuals or small groups, with a maximum of 15 participants per tour. Tours will take place rain or shine, except in the case of dangerous or severe weather. Please wear appropriate clothing. The Fiesta de San Pacho is an important annual celebration in Quito, Colombia, that blends Afro-Colombian culture and Catholic traditions. The festival includes religious processions, music, dance and community events, attracting a large number of tourists. The festival dates back to 1648 and was originally religious in nature, but later more cultural elements were added. Today, the Fiesta de San Pacho is listed as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO, showcasing a rich cultural fusion. Starting on September 20, joy fills the city, with the Francisco neighborhood of Quito participating in several parades, accompanied by music and dance groups, through the city streets, accompanied by the Chirimia music of Choco and other representative dances. Fiesta de San Pacho Events Dawn: Dawn marks the beginning of the celebrations. Processions depart from each neighborhood of the city and converge at Centennial Park for the Eucharistic Liturgy. After the liturgy, flags symbolizing the responsibility of the festival are handed over to each neighborhood. Rafts, costume parades and fireworks: In commemoration of the first celebration of the saint, a raft parade is held in October, along the Atrato River, carrying the image of San Francisco de Assis. Francisco's Joy, Procession and Mass: On October 4, the date commemorating the death of San Francisco de Assis, the celebrations have a ritual and religious tone. The city welcomes the dawn in silence and the Francisco's Joy begins, awakening the inhabitants. These are solemn processions that go through the streets until they reach the Cathedral of Quito, where a mass is celebrated in honor of San Francisco de Assis. Closing of the festival and flag-lowering parade: On the afternoon of October 5, a parade is held in the city streets. During the parade, the flag-bearers lower the flag, and the sound of Cirimia and fireworks announce the end of the Feast of San Pacho.
