Join Centre Stage Theatre School at our weekly summer camps! Camps are a great way to make new friends, learn new skills, develop your creativity and have fun acting, singing, and dancing as well as creating and performing in a production. Students will explore techniques and activities such as stage movement, characterization, improvisation, vocal work, theatre dance, theatre games, singing, storytelling, warm-up and cool-down activities, as well as the creation of props, scenery, and costumes. Students will be grouped according to age wherever possible. At the end of each week, everyone will perform in a show for parents and/or guardians in the Centre Stage Studio Theatre (COVID-19 guidelines and requirements permitting). The ProgramThe program focuses on developing strong acting skills while emphasizing self-confidence, expression, creativity, concentration, self-esteem, individual style, and public speaking and group cooperation skills, all in an atmosphere of fun and excitement. The environment is welcoming, rewarding, challenging, and supportive. We have built variety into the program, so that campers remain involved and everyone has an opportunity to participate fully. Students have the opportunity to meet new friends, learn new skills, and have FUN. The program grew out of founder Helen Zdriluk's many years of experience as arts educator and our strong belief in the value of education in and through theatre and music theatre. Our goals are to nurture each student’s imagination, develop theatre skills, boost self-esteem and enable students to perform in a safe and supportive environment. Based on our philosophy that theatre skills mirror life skills, our programs develop theatre skills that will be valuable in academic, social and personal contexts. Summer Camp: Ages 4-6 Tuesday August - Friday August 8, 2024 (four-day week) Cost: Members $240 and Non-Members: $260 Sign-in from 8:30-9:30am | Sign-out 3:30-4:00pm | Extended Care 4:00-5:30pm ($10/day/camper) Spend a whole day making art! Our 4-6 camp is all about exploring the imagination, trying new tools and processes, and making friends, too! Campers will work with a variety of media, from paint and paper to sculptural materials and more. Our wonderful artist instructors come up with exciting projects based on our current exhibitions and permanent collections, and our youngest campers spend half their day with one instructor, then half the day with another, giving them the most dynamic learning experience possible. The camp day includes two snack breaks and a lunch break, followed by some time outdoors for play. Breaks are timed so that campers in the 4-6 and 7-12 age groups have a chance to spend time together at the midday lunch break (we love seeing camper siblings reunite and share stories from their studio time!). We are pleased to offer Extended Care again this year, from 4:00-5:30pm, at a cost of $10/day or $50/week ($40/week for 4-day weeks), per camper. Make sure you select this add-on when purchasing your ticket for camp. *Registration open to campers aged 4 as of January 1, 2024 Please note: If courses are purchased at member price, and membership is not active, you will be charged for the membership. ART MATERIALS for children’s classes are included in the registration fee. WHAT TO WEAR? Wear something that nobody would mind if it came home dirty or stained - spills and splatters can and do happen! Closed-toe shoes are mandatory. WHAT TO BRING? Snacks and a lunch that are nut-free. We take three breaks in total - two snack breaks and one lunch. If your camper runs out of snacks, we'll have some on hand. ALLERGY OR SPECIAL NEEDS? Remember to notify us on your registration form if your camper has an allergy, health concern or learning disability that could impact participation in the studio. We want to ensure the best possible experience for all, so please let us know if accommodations should be made. COVID-19 HEALTH AND SAFETY: Please review the AGB's COVID-19 safety guidelines on our website before attending your week of camp. All camp guidelines are subject to change in accordance with Provincial health mandates. Information Source: Art Gallery of Burlington | eventbrite
