KITCHENER MEDITATION CLASS TUESDAYS 7 PM - 8:15PM in person @ St Matthews Centre, Green Room 54 Benton St, Ktichener, ON Refuge from the Storm - Developing Authentic Self-Confidence 4- week series in September Just as we seek shelter from outer storms —thunderstorms, hurricanes, and blizzards—we also need inner protection from the storms that arise in the mind: inner storms of worry, anxiety, fear, anger, and discouragement and so forth. In Buddhism, inner protection is known as ‘refuge’ – relying on Buddha’s wisdom to eradicate our fears. Through establishing refuge in our hearts, we are able to generate a self-confident peaceful mind that will carry us through the storms of life. In this series of classes, we will explore the teachings of Venerable Atisha, the revered Indian master who introduced Buddhism to Tibet over a thousand years ago. Also known as the ‘Refuge Lama’, Atisha offered profound and compassionate advice on how to soothe the inner storms that destroy our inner peace. His timeless wisdom remains as relevant today to modern people as it was centuries ago. Each class presents a new topic with new contemplations and meditations for our training in overcoming anger and developing patience. Topics include: Developing authentic self-confidence Guarding the mind with alertness Practicing with steadfastness and joy This course is based on the book How to Solve Our Human Problems , Guide to the Bodhisattva’s Way of Life , and Meaningful to Behold . More information at akbc.ca Everyone welcome. $15 a class. $48 4-class pass (series pass). Tickets and passes can also be purchased at the door at class time. No need to pre-register. We've been screaming folked-up ballads through busted megaphones for 15 years now (!)... you've seen us in parks and street corners, festivals and dive bars, performing arts centres and raves... And y'all know we don't shy away from celebration, so we're bringing the LBO experience to Kitchener Ontario at the legendary The Hub, one of Kitchener's most epic venues. Kitchener, you’ve seen us rock weddings, outdoor fests, and park parties over the years, but this time we’re kicking off our own party tour through your city. It's gonna be a vibe y'all. We're gonna sing arm in arm in languages we don't speak. We're gonna punch the sky till the gray clouds cower (the lemon bucket work out). We're gonna kolo till we spiral out of control. UK Calling: The Sound of an Era, Reimagined UK Calling brings to life the hits that most wouldn’t dare touch—Bronski Beat, The Style Council, The Cure—this is the soundtrack of a generation, performed with intensity, nuance, and flair. What sets this band apart isn’t just the setlist—it’s the spirit. More than just vintage sunglasses and a synth preset, this seven-piece outfit, complete with a full horn section, delivers a live show that’s electric, authentic, and relentlessly energetic. They don’t coast on nostalgia; they ignite it. From the unmistakable mood of Joy Division to the kinetic punch of Madness and the layered elegance of Tears for Fears, UK Calling doesn’t just play the songs—they inhabit them. And with Peter James Fox at the helm—a frontman whose tenor voice is as commanding as it is captivating—audiences are swept into a full-bodied experience that’s impossible to resist. Described by fans as “just like the old CFNY,” UK Calling is Canada’s definitive tribute to the golden age of British alternative music. Think New Wave, 2 Tone Ska, and Post-Punk. No power ballads, no pop queens—just the cool, the bold, and the unforgettable. Since 2018, they’ve been filling venues and keeping dance floors alive across Ontario. If you know the era, you’ll find your favorites here. If you don’t, you’re about to discover why it mattered. Information Source: UK Calling | eventbrite
