Doors: 7 PM Opening set: 8PM ABOUT Lake Porter is a brand new singer-songwriter trio that thrives in the space between Folk Americana + Rock and Roll, balancing raw storytelling with rich melodies and a dynamic live show. What started as a casual collaboration between friends quickly took on a life of its own, revealing a sound too strong to keep to themselves. Featuring Martina Lake (Harlette), Taryn McKenna (Three’s Company), and Jonny Porter (Staylefish), the band brings together three distinct voices, blending acoustic warmth, banjo-driven rhythms, and haunting violin lines. Their music is deeply personal yet instantly relatable songs that stick with you long after the last note fades. On stage, Lake Porter doesn’t hold back. Their performances are intimate but full of energy, pulling audiences into every lyric, harmony, and stomp of the floor. Whether it’s a stripped-down ballad or an all-out foot-stomper, they make sure you feel every moment. Local Pressure is a Canadian rock band formed in spring of 2022. Their sound is a mix of folk rock, indie rock, Americana, Heartland rock and Southern rock. The line-up consists of singer and guitarist Steve Kirstein, guitarist Nathan Vanderveen, bassist Drew Vanderveen, drummer Jonny Porter and keyboardist John Kirstein. The band played their first gig in their hometown of Hamilton, Ontario in April of 2022 at their local bar, the Corktown Pub. What was supposed to be a 30 minute opening slot turned into a full evening, as both of the other scheduled bands cancelled minutes before the show. Some notable performances include their CMW Showcase (June 10, 2023) and multiple Horseshoe Tavern appearances (2022-2023). REFUND POLICY Please purchase your tickets carefully - there are NO REFUNDS or exchanges on purchased tickets, unless the event is canceled due to unforeseen circumstances. ABOUT THE VENUE The Legendary Corktown Pub is Hamilton’s oldest licensed establishment and live music venue. For more than 80 years the Corktown has played host to local and international talent. The kitchen boasts a modern menu, with locally sourced ingredients and made to perfection. WAITLIST AND DOOR TICKETS If an event is sold out, don't fret! Door tickets are sometimes available. Join the Great Lakes Plastic Cleanup (GLPC) , an initiative of Pollution Probe and the Council of the Great Lakes Region along with the Bay Area Restoration Council at Harbour West Marina to sort, characterize, and count plastic waste and other debris caught in our plastic capture technology! Seabins are devices at the surface of the water designed to catch and trap floating plastic and debris for safe and easy removal from our waterways! From plastic fragments, foam pellets, and tape to cigarette butts, bottle caps, and food wrappers, these items are harmful to life in and around the lake. It is crucial to catch, remove, and examine the types of litter that enter the Great Lakes, for the health of our aquatic ecosystems. Every piece of debris removed from Lake Ontario is a step towards a cleaner, healthier, and more beautiful lake that we can all enjoy! All equipment required will be provided by GLPC, and we only ask you to dress appropriately for the weather, wear sunscreen, and bring a reusable water bottle! *The event end time may vary depending on how much waste was collected in the Seabins. Directions: If you are coming by Main Street to James Street and turn north (left) follow James Street to Guise Street and turn left (west). The parking lot is on your right and shared with the Royal Hamilton Yacht Club. ABOUT THE BAND Under the direction of Juno award winning producer and musical director, Lance Anderson, the concert will feature the phenomenal singing and playing of Kitchener’s Matt Weidinger and soul and gospel sensation Quisha Wint, and Toronto’s sax legend Gene Hardy (Bourbon Tabernacle Choir). Ray Charles mixed the gospel of his youth with the blues of the clubs and invented ‘soul’ music. Taking the classic gospel song – ‘It Must Be Jesus’ he put new lyrics to it and the result was ‘I’ve Got a Woman’ and the birth of Soul. This show features all the hits like ‘What I’d Say’, ‘Unchain My Heart’, ‘Hit the Road Jack’, ‘Hallelujah, I Love Her So’, ‘The Nighttime is the Right Time’, ‘Let the Good Times Roll’ and more. Two hours of music that will soothe your soul and have you dancin’ in your seats. When you hear Quisha Wint sing ‘Georgia’ you will think you have died and gone to heaven. Anderson says: “It is a rare opportunity to be able to get together and play the wonderful book of Ray Charles songs. This small group format harkens back to Ray at his critical best; The Atlantic sessions, with just his piano, organ and a rhythm section. You will feel like you are back in the clubs on the chitlin circuit.” Also features the Hammond B3 organ and the incredible sax playing of Gene Hardy (Michael Buble, Bourbon Tabernacle Choir), not to mention Kevan Mckenzie (James Taylor, Anne Murray) on drums, one of Canada’s top recording musicians. This show will pick up your spirits and give you the lift that only the musical Genius of Ray Charles can provide. "Phenomenal!! It is one of the most entertaining shows I have ever seen. You absolutely must bring this show to Ottawa. You all appeared to be having a thoroughly enjoyable time on-stage and the crowd was into every note of it. What a day and what a way to end a weekend-long party for us." - J.K. Ottawa "Lance Anderson brought his ‘Genius+Soul Show' to the Mariposa Folk Festival .... Lance and his group had a full tent dancing and singing along. Those that were there consider the show the highlight of the weekend, those that missed Lance and group have resolved to see it when we bring them back." Crown & Press presents: Folk & Feelings Hosted by Frank Fiction with special guest Eric Brandon A night for songs that hit too close to home and stories that stick around. Hosted by Juno Award-winning songwriter Frank Fiction , Folk & Feelings is a small-venue concert that blends indie folk, lyrical storytelling, and just enough dry humour to keep it human. Fiction’s indie alt-folk work blends lyrical candour with a crooked smile, channelling Ben Folds, Rufus Wainwright, Andy Shauf, and John Prine. Expect unreleased originals, unexpected covers, and breathing room between chords. Joining him is rising Canadian artist Eric Brandon , who is fresh off a national tour with Owen Riegling. Brandon writes like he’s lived the fallout—grappling with pain, hope, and all the things we don’t say out loud. Held in the intimate, art-soaked caféscape of Crown & Press—co-founded by both Frank Fiction and celebrated Hamilton artist Julia Veenstra—this live acoustic concert offers just 80 seats and no place to hide. A rare night of up-close performance and real, raw connection. $20 advance / $25 at the doorDoors at 6:30 / Music at 7:30.Live acoustic music | Indie folk | Songwriter night Information Source: Crown & Press | eventbrite
