WHEN: Friday, August 1st @ 7pm WHERE: Bushwick, Brooklyn (location available in confirmation email - near the Jefferson & Dekalb Ave. stop on the L) READING: THE BRIGHT YEARS by Sarah Damoff This book club is available through the Book Club for Book Hoes. We are a group of people who are a hoe for a good book and want to meet other like-minded hoes here in the city. Making friends in the city as an adult can be hard, but when we all have something in common it's way easier. Please be mindful to others and come expecting a riveting conversation based on respect, admiration, and appreciation towards each other and the book we're reading. You can find out more information about all our book clubs and events on our Instagram @bookclubforbookhoes IMPORTANT INFO TO KNOW PRIOR TO PURCHASE: Please be aware all tickets are final sale - no exchanges or refunds. Tickets are non-exchangeable between book clubs and events and are non-refundable. Must be 21+ to attend. This event will be photographed for promotional purposes. We take a group photo at the end of every book club (optional to be in), but photos are also taken during book clubs and events to promote the Book Club for Book Hoes on Instagram and TikTok. Photos are taken by both the organizer and by members who can take their own photos throughout our time together. If you do not wish to be photographed in the group photo, that is totally okay. Tisha B'Av: Grief Retreat Date: August 3rd Location: 305 Ten Eyck St Join us for a half-day grief retreat in Brooklyn on Tisha B'Av, the saddest day of the Jewish ancestral calendar. We'll partake in traditional practices and rituals of Jewish grief, explore ancestral wisdom on how to work with grief, and bring presence to traumas past and present, individual and collective. Featuring teachings and sacred song from R' Amichai Lau-Lavie, R' Jericho Vincent, Sacred Musician Shira Kline and others. Some folks have a tradition to fast on this day, so we'll conclude with a ceremonial break fast for all. After the retreat, our community weaver will host an informal hang out to chat, digest the experience, and continue to connect. Dress code:Black grief attire—whatever that means to you. We invite you to dress in a way that honors loss, reverence, or remembrance. Open to people of all backgrounds. No prior knowledge required. This event is made possible due to the generosity of the UJA Federation of New York and supporters like you. Information Source: Temple of the Stranger | eventbrite

We are conveniently located a couple of blocks from the Broadway Junction A/C/J/L subway stop and across the street from the LIRR East New York stop. Serving as a resource for community members, historians, and designers alike, the New York Sign Museum is a registered nonprofit organization with the mission of preserving historic signage from around the New York metropolitan area. Currently incubating in Noble Signs' fabrication and design studios, the museum collection includes over 40 full-scale rescued storefront signs and dozens of other small pieces and ephemera. See the collection and an active sign shop where signs are still made the old-fashioned way, situated in an amazing one-of-a-kind prewar factory space with original details including glass block walls, art deco tin ceilings, stained glass dividers, and a functioning dumbwaiter. As the musuem is located within an active sign making workshop, we ask that you please show up no earlier than 10 minutes before the tour as we do not have a lobby or waiting area. We try to start tours within 5 minutes of the start time, so please be on time! Accessibility: The museum is located across two stories; the first floor is accessed with a small step, while the upstairs is only accessible via a full two flight staircase. Closed-toe shoes are required. All children must be accompanied by adult. Information Source: New York Sign Museum | eventbrite
