This class is perfect for coffee enthusiasts and aspiring baristas alike, blending sensory evaluation, latte art, and essential theory to elevate your coffee craft. Master the art of espresso preparation, milk steaming, and pour techniques to create stunning latte art, including intricate etching designs. We’ll also explore plant-based milks, ensuring you can create delicious drinks for every preference. Discover flavor profiles through guided tastings and learn the science behind the perfect cup. Join us for this exciting journey into the world of coffee, where you'll gain practical skills and expert tips to craft café-quality beverages at home. Spaces are limited, so reserve your spot today and take your coffee passion to the next level! About your instructor - For over two decades, Phong Tran and his wife have cultivated a coffee culture at Matter of Taste Coffee Bar in Downtown Kitchener. As pioneers in the Waterloo region, they proudly introduced latte art to the region, setting a new standard for coffee aficionados in Ontario. In the midst of the third wave coffee movement, their passion and dedication were recognized at the barista championships, where they secured second place in their first year of competition. A year later, their talent shone even brighter, claiming both first and second place titles, and earning accolades for best taste in the Toronto Life Magazine latte art edition. In 2008, Matter of Taste Coffee expanded and established the region's first specialty coffee roaster. Committed to direct trade with farmers and curating exceptional coffee from around the globe, they have fostered a community of coffee enthusiasts and connoisseurs. Throughout their journey, Phong has trained numerous baristas, many of whom have gone on to become industry professionals, including Q-graders, coffee critics, professional roasters, marketers, and industry representatives. Phong Tran is very pleased to partner with Conestoga introducing this very first latte art workshop! Any questions, email Shannon - srea@conestogac.on.ca Information Source: Shannon Rea | eventbrite

Join us for an unforgettable day with New York Times bestselling author of The Henna Artist , Alka Joshi, as we celebrate the release of her highly anticipated new standalone novel, Six Days in Bombay (available 4/15/25). In this captivating new novel, Alka Joshi tells a powerful story of identity and self-discovery, inspired by the life and works of the iconic Hungarian-Indian painter Amrita Sher-Gil, often referred to as the “Frida Kahlo of India.” Alka will share behind-the-scenes insights into her creative process and the journey behind the story. The Hayward Public Library, in partnership with the Friends of the Hayward Library, is offering two exciting opportunities for our community to meet and engage with the author: 1. Pours & Pastels Party (Limited availability, ages 16+) Inspired by the novel's main character, a famous half-Indian painter, this hands-on event invites attendees to create their own oil pastel artwork, guided by talented artist Hetal Anjaria. While you unleash your creativity, enjoy a glass of wine (or a non-alcoholic beverage) and immerse yourself in the artistic atmosphere. Ticket Price: $60 (includes a signed copy of Six Days in Bombay , all art supplies, and up to 2 drinks). This intimate gathering will offer a unique opportunity to connect with Alka Joshi in a more personal setting in the latter part of the program. The art reference piece for the oil pastel drawing portion of this program is shown below 2. Author Talk and Book Signing (Free event, all ages) Join us for an inspiring hour with Alka Joshi, where she will discuss her new book, answer questions from the audience, and provide a book signing session. Ticket Price: FREE, but requires registration for tickets Books will be available for purchase on-site, or you may bring your own copy for signing. Important Information: All proceeds from ticket sales will benefit the Friends of the Hayward Public Library. Cultural Experiences
For those who communicate outside the norm—and the people who love them, may we present a speed dating event for the neurodivergent and the people who get it? Introducing: board game speed dating! Designed for neurodivergent minds but welcoming to all who value clear communication, direct vibes, and no awkward guessing games. Over the course of our event, you'll have a chance to discover new games and meet cool single people. You'll play classics you love and discover brand new ones you've never heard of, playing each with a different group of fun singles. At the end of the night, you give your gaming concierge a list of the folks you met that you'd like to date and a list of those you met that you'd like to just hang out with as friends. If any two people put down the same name as each other in either column, then your gaming concierge will make sure you get each other's e-mail address and you can coordinate a time to hang out. Our event will also feature a brief presentation from Sarah and Tandis at Connecting Us in the beginning, giving tips on how to connect. Then we'll hop into games. Before you decide to buy tickets, a few basics we should cover: 1) All games played will be group games, giving people a chance to interact at a table full of fellow game lovers, rather than in the 1:1 format of conventional speed dating. 2) You'll see tickets sold for men or women, our men's tickets are generally for people who feel a connection to the identity of “man” and are interested in dating women, while our women's tickets are for people who feel a connection to the identity of “woman” and are interested in dating men. Gender nonconforming folks and any others who feel this event would be a fit for them are absolutely welcome. 3) Water, sodas and snacks will be there for all to enjoy. Registrants are free to BYOB if they so desire. 4) Refunds are only available to those who cancel with more than 48 hours' notice, in order to make sure we have enough time to find a replacement for you and keep the event well-populated. Okay, that's all you need to know, so don't wait any longer. Grab your ticket and we'll see you there. Game on! Information Source: Quirk Events | eventbrite

Details Trek Overview: This is a classic cliff-top walk – one of the finest coastal walks in England – affording stunning (and very famous) views of the white cliffs of Beachy Head and the Seven Sisters, starting from the seaside town of Seaford before ending in Eastbourne. Difficulty level: This is a strenuous and 'good paced' walk. Apart from the start, finish and a short section around Cuckmere Haven, almost none of it is flat, and there are several steep climbs. It is a long, though relatively gradual, climb up to Beachy Head, the very scenic section between Birling Gap and Cuckmere Haven, in particular, is a series of steep ascents and descents. Length : 21km (13.1 miles) Duration : Approximately 6 hours walking + 1.5 hours break Start : 10am Seaford Station. Please have your cars parked and ready for introductions by then. Finish : Eastbourne Station Waymarks : Seaford Beach – Hope Gap – Coastguard Cottages – Cuckmere Haven – Cuckmere Inn – Seven Sisters Country Park – Birling Gap – Belle Tout Lighthouse – Beachy Head Lighthouse – Beachy Head Pub – Eastbourne Seaside Promenade – Eastbourne You are advised to take care near the cliff edges on this walk, as they are crumbly and liable to collapse. the official advice is to keep 5 metres from any cliff edge Who can do FITBANKER Treks? Remarkably compelling, amazingly detailed and always humorous The popular star of TV’s Street Psychic, Psychic Private Eyes and Psychic Academy, Tony Stockwell has a long established credibility as one of the top Intuitive Mediums and has shared the stage all round the world with international mediums such as Colin Fry, James van Praagh and Lisa Williams. Tony demonstrates his belief that those who have passed can communicate with their loved ones with detailed messages frequently including names, dates and locations and all delivered with emotion, sensitivity and empathy. The evening may include psychometry, photographs readings and psychic prediction. Recent legislative guidelines insist that any Evening of Mediumship should be billed ‘for entertainment purposes’. Tony certainly uses his natural wit, showmanship and Cockney charisma to entertain but more important, Mediumship has the potential to change someone’s life and instil in them a sense of peace, comfort and purpose. We hope that nobody can fail to come away untouched by the experience. Information Source: Blonde Sheep Events | eventbrite
