The 25th Gwangyang Fisheries Festival will be held from September 4th to 6th, 2026, in the area around Mangdeokpo Port, Jinwang-myeon, Gwangyang City, South Korea. The main venue is located at Mugeedo Plaza. With the theme "Seohak River Maekyu and Autumn Memories: Immerse Yourself in Deliciousness and Revel in the Charm," it is a large-scale autumn festival integrating food, culture, and entertainment. During the festival, various food culture activities will be held, including maekyu fishing experiences, grilled maekyu tasting, large-portion maekyu bibimbap preparation, traditional "Maekyu Fishing Song" performances (Jeolnam-do Intangible Cultural Heritage No. 57), and a live cooking show of "A Table of Maekyu," featuring heartfelt preparations. Entertainment programs will also include celebratory performances by famous singers such as Shin Yong and Shin Hoonji, a maekyu folk song competition, fireworks displays, a magic bubble show, and children's balloon performances. The opening ceremony is scheduled for 6:30 PM on September 5th. The festival is dedicated to preserving and promoting the culinary heritage of Gwangyang plum fish, while providing visitors with a rich autumnal atmosphere and local cultural experience.
