Location:
9 King St. W. Dundas, ON
Meeting Place:
Freewheel Cycle Dundas
Departure Time:
6:30pm
These gravel and adventure bike rides are for cyclists with moderate physical fitness and skill level who are seeking to socialize and improve their skills and fitness with a group of likeminded riders. These no-drop rides will take riders on a mix of multiuse trails, gravel roads, paved and dirt paths. This may include sand, gravel, mud, etc. Due to the interest in this ride, for the 2025 season we will be offering two gravel rides with varying distances, pace, and routes.
A Ride:
Ride distances will range from
30-50km
with an average pace of
18-30km/h
.
B Ride:
Ride distances will range from
20-40km
, starting off easy and relaxed at the beginning of the season and working up to an average pace of
15-25km/h
.
The location of the ride will change from week to week so that we can explore all the amazing gravel and trail networks in the area. All information on when and where to meet will be communicated to attendees in the description of the weekly eventbrite events. If a ride needs to be canceled due to weather or otherwise, this will be posted on the Freewheel Cycle social media platforms.
As a participant, you are expected to:
Plan to arrive early enough for your pre-ride preparations.
Wear a cycling specific helmet less than 5 years old and have an appropriate bike in good working order. (Sorry but for your safety: no department store bikes!) Our service technicians are very talented but they are not magicians and cannot service your bike before the ride.
Bring water. Staying hydrated is important so bring your own water and maybe a snack to keep up your energy.
Bring snacks. We ride for a few hours and have planned stops for nutrition.
A moderate level of fitness required.
Be self-sufficient. Mechanical issues happen and while our leaders are happy to help as best they can, each rider should carry a mini-pump, spare tube and quick link suited for their own bike.
Dress appropriately for the activity and weather conditions. Bug spray and/or sun block is recommended.
Be considerate and supportive to others.
Ask questions! Our ride leaders are happy to share their knowledge and want you to feel supported.
