Group processing may be an area deserving of more time in communities, organically through conversations, breathwork and movement , which is how TEAO has begun to address trauma care and trauma health in communities. TEAO Canada will hold space for participants, led by Nicole Brown Faulknor — as both an embodiment coach and psychotherapist. Nicole will explore somatic practices as well, as a way to support rebuilding a relationship with our bodies through these symptoms and a place to be heard and loved in places of systems and institutions and why your emotional health is our mental health. These circles will incorporate psycho-education, somatic health and breathwork to get participants in their somatic bodies to begin to process trauma. We are coming together in somatic movement during the group processing circle so that debriefing, trauma care and systemic care can be processed. Information Source: TEAO Canada | eventbrite

Event Description: Climate change can often feel big and out of reach- but it’s something we’re experiencing right here in Waterloo Region. And the good news? There’s so much we can do, together. In this interactive session hosted by ClimateActionWR, we’ll explore what climate change looks like locally, where most of our community’s emissions come from, and how our everyday actions- from how we get around to how we use energy- can be part of the solution. Whether you’re just starting to think about climate action or looking to go deeper, this session is a chance to build your understanding, ask questions, and leave with practical steps you can take to make a difference. Together, we’ll connect the dots between individual choices and community-wide change, and remind ourselves that no action is too small when it comes to caring for the place we call home. ClimateActionWR is a collaboration between local organizations and community members focused on climate change mitigation, and is led by Reep Green Solutions and Sustainable Waterloo Region . This workshop is in collaboration with the City of Kitchener's Open House for Prospect Park's upgraded stormwater facility Join Reep and the City on Wednesday June 18th in Franklin Public School gym for the drop-in open house from 5-8pm to help guide the design of these upgrades so that the park better serves the neighbourhood. See Shape the Future of Prospect Park | EngageWR for more details. The Taking on Climate Change workshop will take place from 7-8pm in a separate classroom. City of Kitchener's Stormwater Projects The City of Kitchener is working on several projects across the city to improve stormwater management. These projects improve water quality and reduce flood risk due to climate change. The projects are partially funded by the federal government’s Disaster Mitigation and Adaptation Fund (DMAF) with $50 million toward projects during 2018-2028.
