Celebration
The Istanbul Theatre Festival 2, celebrating its 30th anniversary, was held in Istanbul, Turkey, from October 22 to December 3. Organized by the Istanbul Cultural and Artistic Foundation, this six-week international theatre event featured 17 stage productions (11 Turkish and 6 international), spanning 13 performance venues and integrating theatre, contemporary dance, and performing arts. The festival's core creative themes revolved around profound social issues such as memory, language, women's experiences, war, social change, and belonging. It brought together top international artistic works and groups, including Caroline Guiela Nguyen's opening work *Lacrima*, the return of the Dutch dance theatre NDT 2, Dmitry Krymov's *Requiem*, Marah Haj Hussein's *Language Is Not a Problem*, and Mehmet Birkiye's adaptation of Oscar Wilde's classic *Dorian Gray*. This six-week theatrical extravaganza, integrating international art, cross-cultural dialogue, and social reflection, presents a global audience with the diverse creativity and profound humanistic concerns of contemporary stage art.
