What are Connect Communities Connect communities are vibrant, worshipping communities that are created when those from the Church work with those from the edge to create a mutual space, expressing the characteristics and personalities of the people who attend.​ Connect Communities provide a consistent gathering place in the city where a mix of people from a background of offending / drugs / homelessness, their family and friends can meet together with those from a church background on a weekly basis. Connect is primarily a relational movement and supportive relationships emerge from this community that overflow into people’s daily lives. The weekly Connect gathering will fast become the hub of community life, although plenty goes on beyond it too. Newcastle Civic Centre is a venue like no other - it is a combination of our rich history, long lasting traditions, flexibility, and authentic modernist architecture, making it a true modern classic. Explore behind the scenes of this architectural gem, the centre of Newcastle’s governance. Discover where decisions are taken in the Council Chamber, the treasures in the Lord Mayor’s Silver Gallery, and the spectacular views from the Bell Tower. Booking will secure your place but walk-ups will be available on the day. If you are a 2025 season ticket holder, remember you MUST bring along your ticket or you will be asked to pay for your tour. Tour lasts approx 1.5hrs Assistance dogs only. No other pets allowed. Safety Information To attend our walks you need to be reasonably fit, prepared to be responsible for your own safety, and to supervise any children in your care. Appropriate clothing and footwear is recommended. A bottle of water, an umbrella and an extra layer wouldn't go amiss. The British weather is notoriously changeable! Newcastle is an historic city with uneven pavements and narrow passages add to its unique character. There are also often steps to navigate. Our walks take approximately 90 minutes, are you comfortable walking and standing for that length of time?
