WEETWOOD MAC & GRACELAND - THE RETURN!!
Get ready for another epic night of music at
Kirkstall Abbey
! Following the success of last year's event and after a HUGE number of people asked if we could repeat it, we are thrilled to announce the return of
Weetwood Mac
and
Gary Stewart's
Graceland
to the stage within the actual church of the historic 12th Century former Cistercian monestary.
You will be able to hear some of the greatest hits from two of the most successful albums in musical history -
Fleetwood Mac's Rumours and Paul Simon's Graceland
- together with other tracks from two of the most successful recording artists the world has ever seen.
The Kirkstall Festival has now been a mainstay in the Leeds social calendar since 1981 and the 46th annual event will take place on Saturday 12th July 2025 - (the day after our fundraising gig). The event is a full un-ticketed event which usually attracts around 25,000 people. We aim to provide something for all ages.
The festival is organised by unpaid volunteers - the largest such event in Leeds. All proceeds go to support the festival. However costs for everything involved on putting on such an event - from insurance, marquees, generators, tables, chairs, communications, artists to toilets, toilet rolls, bin bags, skips and signs - are going up every year. In 2000 the Festival cost £6,000 to stage. With additional health and safety costs, more events, additional paperwork, licenses, permits, the cost has grown over the years to around £35,000. We receive around £8,000 in grants, sponsorship, and donations (although these are proving harder to come by). The rest has to be raised on the day - or in this case, the day before!!
Everyone who came last year will confirm what an amazing evening it was. As one person said when leaving in 2024:
"
Everything was perfect - parking, access, the bar and catering facilities, the toilets, the lighting, the
amazing venue and of course the hugely talented bands. Please do it again!"
This year we'll be opening the doors slightly earlier, at 6pm, so bring your chairs, picnics or use our bar / catering facilities and make an evening of it. We'll even have a support act this year - one of Leeds's rising stars
Naomi Kelly
-
who will be opening the gig at 6.30pm with her blend of brilliant originals and classic covers.
So come on, book your tickets and
Go Your Own Way
(once more) to
Graceland
- whilst at the same time helping secure the future of one of the most important cultural events of our great city.
Don't miss out on this incredible event - mark your calendars and book your tickets now!
