Tours of Matunuck Oyster Farm begin at Matunuck Oyster Bar with introductory discussion about aquaculture and fisheries on a global and local scale and guests are invited to visit the shellfish farm in Potter Pond. Tours of the oyster farm are a unique feature of the Matunuck experience where visitors see the different species of shellfish in different stages of growth. The duration of the tour is approximately 60 minutes and is  held rain or shine. We have limited seating and each person requires a ticket regardless of age. Tickets are non refundable. All tours are held rain or shine and are only cancelled when thunder and lightning occurs. There is no cover on the barge, please dress accordingly. Cancellations due to weather are communicated through the email provided at time of purchase the morning of the tour. The tours and oyster farm were started with help from RI Sea Grant Reed Initiative funded project ”The Ocean State Aquaculture Education Project” in 2002. Although the grant has expired, Raso continues the tours because of the educational opportunities they provide and to increase people’s understanding of aquaculture and RI’s estuarian environment. With our tours we hope to encourage our visitors to take an active interest in supporting local aquaculturists and farmers. If you would like information on a Private Tour, please contact us at 401-783-4202 ext: 2 or events@rhodyoysters.com for more information. Information Source: Matunuck Oyster Bar | eventbrite

Joe Samba @ The Ocean Mist Come join us for a night of lively music with Joe Samba at The Ocean Mist ! Get ready to dance the night away to the infectious rhythms of Samba music. This in-person event promises to be a night to remember, filled with good vibes and great tunes. Don't miss out on the chance to experience the magic of live music in a beautiful beachside setting. Grab your friends and come on down to The Ocean Mist for a night of fun and entertainment! About the Artist Guitar slung low, microphone turned up, and emotion overflowing, Joe Samba taps into rock ‘n’ roll spirit and reggae soul all at once. The Massachusetts-born singer, songwriter, and guitarist sonically teeters on an axis of island-inflected grooves and gritty guitar-craft balanced by his dynamic vocals. He finds the sweet spot between smoked-out Caribbean bliss and sweat-soaked punkified energy. It’s why he’s quietly emerged as a phenomenon, toppling charts at #1 and performing alongside everyone from The Dirty Heads to Pepper.  However, he’s primed to unite not only genres, but people as well through a series of 2023 releases and much more to come. “No matter what walk of life you’re from, I’d love for you to hear the conviction in my music,” he notes. “I hope you think, ‘This dude meant it’ . Maybe you relate to what I’m singing about or just cut loose for a little bit. I just write songs and try to connect with people.” He recognized music’s inherent power to connect as a kid. Dad played bass in a local favorite funk band, while his two older brothers followed suit by picking up the same instrument. At barely seven-years-old, pops pulled Joe up on stage and he busted out a wild rendition of “I Feel Good” by James Brown, leaving the crowd speechless and, unassumingly, deciding his fate. As a teen, he even played at the Boston date of the Warped Tour in his metal band. Post-high school, he cut his teeth by performing in countless bars and watering holes solo. 2019 saw him make a major splash with The Wrong Impression . It bowed at #1 on the Billboard Reggae Albums Chart and clocked over 2 million streams.  At the onset of the Pandemic, he fell in love with Key West and relocated, gigging in bars around Duval Street and writing as much as possible. “I moved because it’s absolutely beautiful,” he grins. “It felt like the end of the world, but I was in this amazing town. I found comfort in knowing if everything blew up in my face, I could drink a Corona in the Keys and keep jamming.” On the other side of the Pandemic, he returned to New Hampshire with his fiancé and newborn son in tow, settling near his family once again. Signing to LAW Records, he continued to evolve with 2022’s Far From Forever highlighted by fan favorites such as “Create Something,” “Beef,” and “Got it All.” At the same time, he coped with depression, infusing darker experiences into his music in an effort to confront them. “Before I was engaged and my son was born, I went through a really depressing path of life,” he admits. “If you have a past trauma you can’t get over, it will hold you back. However, I want to let people know everyone feels shitty from time to time. So much reggae is happy all the time, but I wanted to get into another vibe.” That’s precisely what he does on the 2022 single “Boomer Economy.” On the track, a thrash-y guitar riff crashes right into a laidback reggae break as he alternates between galloping rapid delivery and a magnetic chantable chorus, attempting to bridge the generational gap. “My dad is a boomer, and we butt heads sometimes,” he explains. “I love him to death. It’s scary how alike we are, but he’s from a different time. I was living at home in my twenties, and he was on me about getting out of there. I was feeling rebellious like, ‘Why do we need to argue about this bullshit when we’re trying to preach the same message?’ It doesn’t say, ‘I’m right and you’re wrong’ . It’s about trying to find healthy common ground, but still having a ‘fuck you’ attitude,” he grins.  By building musical common ground on a foundation of honest emotion, Joe has the power to speak to any generation with more music on the horizon. “It doesn’t matter who you are I hope you feel what I’m saying,” he leaves off. “Right now, I have everything I need. The universe dumped it all into my lap: ‘Here’s the family, here’s the career, here’s the team, and here’s the vision’ . I’m just jumping on the train like, ‘Let’s do it’ .” Information Source: Ocean Mist | eventbrite

Sage Francis @ The Ocean Mist Come join us for an unforgettable evening with Sage Francis at the Ocean Mist venue. Get ready to experience the raw talent and powerful lyrics of this acclaimed artist in person. Don't miss out on this opportunity to witness a truly unique performance in a vibrant atmosphere. Grab your friends and make it a night to remember! About the Artist Sage Francis (CEO of Strange Famous Records) is widely considered oneof our generation's greatest lyricists. His gifted wordplay creates vivid narratives to instigate as well as inspire, but it often derives from anaccumulation of public disdain and personal turmoil. Francis originally earned acclaim in the early 2000's by winning the most highly coveted titles of the emcee battle circuit (Scribble Jam and The Super Bowl Battle.)This was coupled with the waves he was causing in the newly burgeoning spoken word scene where he competed nationally. Despite having no official distribution or label support, Francis' unique brand of music spread like wildfire via the advent of file sharing networks which caught the attention of labels worldwide. With his first studio album, Personal Journals, Francis daringly set aside the more boastful side of rap by catering to his poetic leanings and scathing socio-political commentary. By 2005 Sage Francis was the first hip-hop artist signed to Epitaph Records and soon became one of the highest selling artists of his genre. Rather than abandon his day-to-day grind at the helm of SFR, he channeled all of his new found resources into it, allowing the label to expand in stafas well as roster. Several studio albums (including the groups Non-Prophets and Epic Beard Men) and numerous “Sick of...”mixtapes later, Uncle Sage has settled into his “old man shaking his fist at a soundcloud” status while continuing to push buttons from his New England home with his wife and children. 2025 will see Sage Francis’ return to the tour circuit in the beginning of the year, while finalizing some long anticipated projects which includes his first solo album release in 11 years. Wakefield Books presents Casey Sherman In Conversation with Don Winslow. Casey Sherman’s new book Blood In The Water delves into the case of Nathan Carman, which was set in motion just off the coast of Rhode Island, when Nathan was miraculously rescued from a lifeboat, only to later be suspected of involvement in the death of both his mother and grandfather. Nathan's story of a fishing trip gone awry doesn't quite add up, and the story’s complexity grows as suspicion mounts. In Blood In The Water, Sherman has crafted a gripping contemporary true crime narrative for everyone who was fascinated by the Murdaugh murders, and for anyone compelled by the intersection between money, power, and family. Casey is a New York Times, Wall Street Journal, USA Today, and Boston Globe bestselling author of 17 books including The Finest Hours, and Patriots Day (both now major motion pictures). Sherman’s 2023 true crime bestseller Helltown is in development as a limited television series for Amazon Studio. About the Date Ripe’s newest album Bright Blues is a collection of 12 songs full of sleek grooves and  bold melodies that the Boston quintet put together to help ride out tough times, an  anthem for better days ahead. “The wildest thing for me is that the record simultaneously sounds like it has the  scars of everything we’ve been through and also that it doesn’t — it’s joyful music,  which is very exciting given that it was made in the middle of getting hit in the  stomach,” says singer Robbie Wulfsohn, who came together with guitarist Jon  Becker, drummer Sampson Hellerman, and trombonist Calvin Barthel while they  were all studying at Berklee College of Music. The band drew acclaim from the likes of the Boston Globe, Huffington Post and  WXPN with their first full-length, Joy in the Wild Unknown. Their streams on Spotify  surged past 56 million as they conquered stages at festivals including Bonnaroo,  Firefly, SweetWater and Bottlerock, and sold tens of thousands of tickets across the  US, including selling out the iconic House of Blues Boston and Brooklyn Steel.  Bright Blues is their first release after signing to indie powerhouse Glassnote  Records and their first release working with outside co-writers. Teaming up on  production with Noah Conrad (BTS, Niall Horan) and Ryan Linvill (Olivia Rodrigo,  Dermot Kennedy) helped bring the high-energy, freewheeling stage show to the  recording studio, with the result being an album that shows the full scope of the  band’s abilities as writers and performers. Mickey Avalon @ The Ocean Mist Get ready for a wild night with Mickey Avalon at The Ocean Mist ! This in-person event is going to be epic. Join us for a night of music, dancing, and good vibes. Don't miss out on this opportunity to see Mickey Avalon live in action. Grab your friends and get ready to party! See you there! About the Artist Mickey Avalon’s life story plays out like an episode of VH1′s ‘Behind The Music,” marred by personal tragedy, triumphs and immense pain. Avalon’s back-story begins on the streets of Hollywood, California. Raised by his heroin-addicted father, he began selling pot at a young age, a trade he acquired from his mother. In an attempt to clean up his act, Mickey converted to Orthodox Judaism in his late teens, an effort that didn’t last due to constant family tragedy, such as his father’s death in a tragic drunk driving accident. By his early 20s, Mickey had married, had a daughter, and moved out of California, relocating to Portland, Oregon. The serine surroundings of the Pacific Northwest couldn’t hide Mickey from his past for long, as his drug addled Hollywood lifestyle caught up with him in the form of an uncontrollable heroin addiction. As his life neared rock bottom, Mickey found himself broke, divorced, and turning to prostitution, just to support his smack habit. With a desire to once again get his life back on track, Avalon moved in with his sister, and the pair set out on the road to recovery. Tragedy struck again when his sister relapsed, and died from a heroin overdose. After the deaths of both his father and sister, Mickey decided that he wanted more out of life, moved back to Los Angeles, and chose to make one final attempt to clean up his act. Shortly after his return, Mickey was befriended by ex-MTV VJ Simon Rex (aka Dirt Nasty), who encouraged Avalon to pursue his passion of hip-hop and even collaborated with him on some tracks. At the time, Avalon was staying in a sober living facility and had a strict curfew, so Dirt Nasty began passing out Mickey’s demo at Hollywood clubs, which helped Mickey develop a following among fans of the Los Angeles nightclub scene. As Mickey’s popularity grew, he began to sell out clubs throughout California with his legendary live show. Soon after Interscope Records took notice of the guerilla promotions tactics and signed Avalon to the label in 2005. Through Interscope, Avalon released his now classic self-titled debut album, which showcased his unique rhyming style and indulgent lyrics. Inspired by his experiences on the streets with drugs and prostitution, the raw honesty of his songs immediately resonated with audiences. Fan favorites “Jane Fonda,” “Mr. Right” and “My Dick” quickly spread across the internet and mainstream radio, turning Mickey Avalon into a household name. Avalon quickly took to the road and was performing sold-out shows alongside the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Travis Barker and DJ AM, Snoop Dogg, Stephen Marley and Slightly Stoopid. Mickey’s contagious demeanor and unique writing style has made him a hot commodity in the music industry as hip-hop artist Young Jeezy and producer Jermaine Dupri jumped at the chance to collaborate with him for a Boost Mobile commercial. Avalon then joined forces with rock acts the Happy Mondays, and Unwritten Law, with whom he co-wrote the radio hit “Shoulda Known Better”. His music has been featured in countless movies and television series including the HBO’s series Hung, the animated series American Dad, the Duke Nukem Forever video game, Harold and Kumar Escape From Guantanamo Bay and most recently in the trailers for the Cameron Diaz film “Bad Teacher.” Information Source: Ocean Mist | eventbrite
