The five-piece band crafts music that's rooted in jazz improvisation and storytelling, blending the rich traditions of Middle Eastern music with contemporary and Western influences. SARĀB draws on verses from a Syrian poet, Maram al Masri, whose work explores themes of love, culture, and exile. About the band What began as a duo between Franco-Syrian vocalist Climène Zarkan and guitarist Baptiste Ferrandis, SARĀB–meaning mirage in Arabic– evolved into a five-piece ensemble that defies genres and borders. Together, the ensemble weaves a unique soundscape, blending contemporary jazz, rock, and traditional Arabic melodies.
