Behrang Karimi | Morena di Luna

May 31–Sep 7, 2025 (UTC)
Hove
Exhibitions
Karimi uses a range of methods, including monotypes, wood- and linocuts and gouache; combined, they create a lively dialogue between the artist and his work. Landscapes and views are often merely hinted at – humans are the true heart of Karimi’s work, appearing as portraits, in classic poses, as lying and seated nudes, alone and in groups. The room around them is diffuse, sometimes suggested by a doorway flooded with light, other times by another person appearing at the edge of the picture. Two people face one another, rigid as statues, separated by a light expanse of color, of water? His figures seem delicate and brittle, as does the scenery they move within. They all portray small episodes within a unique moment – like the worm crawling towards the apple – that disappear almost before we have fully grasped their significance.

Speed Dating in Brighton (Age Range: 30-45) *Meet Up to 15 Dates* | The Park View

Aug 7, 2025 (UTC+1)
Brighton and Hove
Cultural Experiences
"So, what is speed dating?" Quite simply.... You'll get the chance to meet up to 15 dates, each lasting around five minutes, plenty of time to see if there's a spark. Ladies stay at the same table and gentlemen rotate. Working, successful professionals, make up the majority of our attendees. People who are sick of swiping and looking for something long term. And you will be able to enjoy the event in a friendly and safe atmosphere, knowing that everyone there is signed up is single! The following day you'll be able to enter your matches and hopefully arrange date #2 via our secure messaging service. Please remember to enter your matches before 4pm as this is when the matching system closes. And yes… While it may seem like a far cry away right now… There are hundreds of thousands of working professionals in Brighton, floating in the same boat as you. They are tired of going out looking for love. They are sick of swiping tediously on dating apps. They just want to meet someone special. How hard can that be right? Well it's time for a reality check... Living in a city like Brighton , where we all have busy lives, and an abundance of options makes dating actually very difficult. The odds of finding Mr or Mrs Right are so much higher when you attend an event where the people in attendance are all looking for the same thing as you! Speed Dating Events Are More Popular Than Ever In Brighton But aren't dating events weird and creepy and the type of people who attend would never be your type? Well… It's a misconception that has completely changed. Speed dating events are more popular than ever as more and more people are turning to them as an antidote to dating online . "So, what happens at our events?" Quite simply: No event is the same. Each event has different attendees . Everyone has signed up officially. And guess what? The odds of you finding someone goes way up! And our fantastic hosts will be on hand to make introductions throughout the night. Register for our next event now! Places are limited and we do sell out the majority of our events so book now to avoid disappointment. We have years of experience organizing dating events and matching couples. It's what we are most passionate about. And we are so confident you will find at least one person you would want to see again that if you don't, your next event is completely free! So why not ditch your online dating game and put yourself out there in a real-life dating event hosted by us. Important Information On the day of the event, please look out for an email from True Dating, as it will have the details of your account. You'll need this to enter your matches the following day. The event will start at 7.30pm. We have an area reserved inside, please ask for True Dating on your arrival and you will be directed to our reserved area. Venue Closes at 1am. Stop Swiping. Start Dating. Information Source: True Dating | eventbrite

Film
The Independent Horror Society has been dedicated to supporting grassroots horror cinema for over 10 years, and we're so proud to have 2,100+ committed horror fans and filmmakers in our ranks. We have launched the Indie Film Showcase to do what we love best -- bringing incredible short genre films from hugely talented filmmakers, to the wonderful UK horror community. And in June we hosted a brand-new line up of short films in London, showcasing a superb range of projects from all over the globe. But with so much passion and hard work having gone into each and every film on the line up, we want as many folk as possible to see them. Which is why we're delighted to be able to take them out on the road -- and our next stop will be the glorious city of Brighton! What's more, 20% of all profit made on ticket sales will go straight into our Creators Fund -- so by coming along, you're actively helping creators fund their next projects! So join us at the Caroline Of Brunswick on Ditchling Road for a night of fun, meeting new friends, networking, and of course -- over 2 solid hours of incredible short horror films. Doors open at 6:30pm, with films starting at 6:45pm. There will also be a short break between blocks. (Please note: standard IHS Members can get tickets for £11, and IHS Pro members get them for just £6. Please see our member hubs for the codes!) Here's a quick preview of what's in store: Alexa, Stop. UK, Dir: Sam Dixon An errant Alexa causes problems for a girl alone at night. Babushka UK, Dir: Jon James Smith Annie Parker-Reed is desperate to protect her young daughter from the evil she inherited, but when they find an old Babushka doll in the attic, the past finds them both. Bath Bomb USA, Dir: Colin G. Cooper A possessive doctor prepares an ostensibly romantic bath for his narcissistic boyfriend, but after an accusation of infidelity, things take a deeply disturbing turn. I See You’re Alone UK, Dir: Danielle Spontak A music producer receives a creepy song from her boss and listens to it alone in her home. The more she listens to it, the scarier it gets. Eyeballs start to materialize around her and before she realizes what’s going on – it’s too late. The music producer dies and her eyes have been taken... Make Me A Pizza USA, Dir: Talia Shea Levin A very hungry woman tells a pizza delivery guy she can’t pay for the pizza she ordered. But can the sex she offers instead of currency possibly equate to the true value of a pizza? Is there anything that can be worthy of pizza, aside from what the market has decided? Moonlight Haunts UK, Dir: Kayal Karuppiah Hallow sleeps, but not alone. Sometimes it’s better to ignore sounds in the night. Nettle Day UK, Dir: Jack Nicholls An idealistic young teacher’s faith in kindness is ripped apart as she struggles to save a destructive child from being kicked out of school. Square Peg UK, Dir: Molly Comerford Edwin, a lonely, narcissistic vampire, returns home after a restock to lament about life and his yearning to be normal to his best friend Morris – a decapitated head that loathes his guts. The Birdwatcher UK, Dir: Ryan Mackfall Investigators approach a bird watching hut deep in the forest following the disappearance of a grieving man. As they piece together his final moments, the evidence they gather becomes increasingly unnerving and hard to explain. The Eyes of Marge UK, Dir: Lily Howkins A self-hating social worker traumatised by his sister’s death from domestic abuse, is plagued by phone calls from an unknown woman looking for her dead sister. The Feed UK, Dir: Graham Robertson A man is dragged deep into a black forest, where the sound of a fiddle stirs something in the darkness. The Tunnel UK, Dir: Brendan Cleaves Four friends on a boat trip face a nightmarish battle for survival in a cursed tunnel. Wild Animal UK, Dir: Beth Park A successful woman finds an abandoned baby and is stalked by the mother. Long live indie horror! Information Source: The Independent Horror Society | eventbrite
