Mountain Biking
The what, why and how of: Roll-downs vs drop-offs.Body position tricks. The usual mistakes.Low-speed vs high-speed drops.Commitment / driving the bike.Variations pros and cons.We will open your eyes to a whole new world of tackling drops in a safe and reliable way. You'll be having more fun, amazing your mates…and probably yourself too. Drops are a high-consequence scary feature, if you follow most of the internet advice. With our approach you’ll have the best understanding of what's happening to your bike and body as you go over drops, we’ll get in lots of practice and test you in ways that are super effective while managing the risk of progression, and give you all the puzzle pieces to conquer the rough natural drops you see on trails and not just smooth man-made ramps. You must have completed our A Solid Base clinic and be happy with applying the techniques taught there. Just like our 301 Jump On Control clinic, this is considered a level above all of our 200 level clinics because riding drops well requires a reasonable level of bike coordination to add consistent timing of your movements. But as long as you've completed the 102 A Solid Base (a required prerequisite) and have practiced the content then you'll be ready for this. We will not be finding large drops to send it off, but we will have challenges for you that are guaranteed to progress you well above your current level. You will get the most out of this session if you are able to let off the brakes over rough sections of trail, can lift the front wheel into the air reliably and are comfortable riding through tabletop jumps regardless of getting airtime. We will work through each of these skills for any skill level. If you are parking at the Trail Hub, plus drop a gold coin in the box to go towards the facilities, or purchase an annual parking pass. Standard information: You MUST have attended the A Solid Base clinic before taking part in this clinic. 1xx courses do not have a prerequisite. All others can only be attended after completing '102 A Solid Base'.You MUST be present from the start of the clinic. If you miss our safety talk we are not able to have you join the group. This is for everyone's well-being, and is a requirement enforced on us that we can’t make exceptions for. We suggest arriving at least 15 minutes early to ensure you and your bike are prepared and ready to go on time.3xx clinics are considered more advanced than the 2xx clinics because they add the idea of “correct timing”, however that does not mean these clinics are only for “advanced” riders. You will need to provide your own bike. This course is targeted at adults, but we allow children to come along if they are accompanied by a ticket-holding parent and find this works well.Requires 3 attendees for the event to run, or the event will be rescheduled.
