The event "Drawing for Sculpture" will take place at Saint-Gaudens National Historical Park in Cornish. The workshop, scheduled for June 29, 2024, will focus on the initial stages of sculpture creation, beginning with drawing from live models. Led by Davis Fandiño, the current sculptor-in-residence at the park, participants will learn essential techniques for developing studies used in portrait sculpture. The session will cover aspects such as gesture, outline, silhouette, shadow, and light. Drawing materials will be provided, but attendees are welcome to bring their own. The program is open to individuals aged 16 and above, regardless of skill level. Fandiño, with extensive experience in both fine arts and special-effects sculpting for the film industry, brings a wealth of knowledge to the workshop. The sculptor-in-residence initiative at Saint-Gaudens National Historical Park, in collaboration with the National Park Service and Saint-Gaudens Memorial, aims to continue the legacy of renowned sculptor Augustus Saint-Gaudens by offering educational and inspirational opportunities for artists and visitors. Tickets for the event are priced at $30.
