At Essex Business Partnerships, we are creating a community of construction professionals, working in the Built Environment, who want to meet others with a view to learning about industry activity and making new professional connections. The Southend group will meet monthly on the first Tuesday of the month, with a view to exchanging information, developing professional and social contacts, and supporting each other in pursuit of opportunities, collaboration and new business. The meetings will take place at The Black Box Brewery, offering the chance to connect with like-minded individuals and groups in a relaxed and informal environment whilst enjoying a refreshing drink from the bar. Please feel free to bring colleagues and contacts. We do ask all attendees to be involved with the construction industry in some regard and to book in advance. Join us on Southend Seafront as we walk 7K from Adventure Island - Pavilion Fish & Chips, Southend to the Saltwater Cafe in Chalkwell and back, along the seafront path to raise money for Mid and South Essex Hospitals. This route is flat and fully accessible for wheelchairs and scooters. See former Royal Air Force bomber Avro Vulcan XL426 up close in its hangar at our last Visit the Vulcan Day of 2025. You can walk round the Vulcan and for an additional fee you can climb inside for a guided tour of the cockpit. There will be examples of the weapons carried by the Vulcan during its time with the RAF on display, including the type of 1,000 lb high explosive bomb the Vulcan dropped on Port Stanley airfield during the 1982 Falklands Conflict. Other displays will include: Military Land Rovers, British Army Tanks & Armoured Vehicles, Shoeburyness & South Essex Royal Artillery Association, 10th Essex Living History Group, Great War Living History Group, South Eastern Vintage & Classic Car Club, Essex Mini Owners Club, Southend Radio Control Model Flying Club and a selection of historic fire engines. Characters from the Marvel Comics will be on partrol in the arena and there will be a childrens face painter. The Essex Yeomanry Band will be keeping everyone entertained throughout the day. Hot and cold refreshments will be on sale, including a burger bar, a licensed bar and an ice cream and doughnut kiosk. Our Hangar Shop will be open selling a selection of Vulcan souvenirs, including models, badges, patches, jams, books and much more. General admission is £8.00 for adults with under-16s admitted FREE. Tickets will be on sale on the gate and are also available to buy in advance should you wish. There is no need to buy advance tickets for under-16s. Cockpit visits are an additional £8.00 per person applicable to both adults and under-16s. Cockpit visits will take place every 15 minutes on a timed ticket basis, so there will be no need to stand and queue. Cockpit visit tickets are subject to availability and will only be on sale on the day. When they’re gone, they’re gone! Children must be over 1 metre tall to visit the cockpit and must climb the entry ladder themselves (no carrying). Entry and cockpit tours are free for Vulcan Restoration Trust members subject to presenting a valid VRT membership card. Gates open at 10.00 am with last admission at 4.00 pm. Sorry – due to airport rules, we regret that no pets can be admitted with the exception of assistance dogs. Visitors can arrive by bus, train or car. London Southend Airport station is approximately 15 minutes' walk away and is served by frequent trains on the London Liverpool Street to Southend Victoria line. Car Parking - limited free car parking will be available close to the Vulcan. Please follow the ‘Vulcan Open Day’ direction signs after entering the airport. If the Vulcan car park is full, visitors will need to park in the airport’s short stay car park (for which there is a charge) which is approximately 10 minutes' walk from the Vulcan. We have a disabled car park situated next to the event entrance. On arrival, please let our car park volunteers know that you require disabled parking and they will direct you towards the disabled car park.
