Join us for an exciting return to the Indiana Sanatorium on July 19th, 2025, for a memorable evening of investigation! This time, we have the fantastic opportunity to explore two locations. We now have access to Billy Creek Village, located just a mile and a half from the Sanatorium, expanding our investigative grounds. If you participated last year, you will have the chance to investigate both the Indiana Sanatorium and Billy Creek Village. This investigation will be our largest yet, covering over 200 acres, plus a 70-acre open-air village. We will have access to more than 120,000 square feet of historic facilities, including a tuberculosis hospital, nursing home, mental health facility, and various supporting buildings with extensive steam tunnels. There’s so much to discover! Indiana Sanatorium: 3838 E Old 36 Rd, Rockville, IN 47872 Parking: Upon arrival, look for three barrels blocking the road. Turn left there and drive up the hill. The tan commercial building will be on your left. Park there and enter, where staff will welcome you. Please bring cash or use Venmo, PayPal, or Cash App for purchasing merchandise, snacks, and rental equipment kits. Note: Indiana is one hour ahead of the Central Illinois time zone (CST). Locations to Explore: Commercial Building Superintendent’s Mansion Doctor’s Bungalows Water Treatment Facility Tunnel Entrance Administration Building Power Plant Nursing Home Adam’s Hall Water Tower This location is renowned for its intense activity, which includes apparitions, direct voice phenomena, disembodied yells, moving objects, remarkable EVPs, singing, feelings of dread or heavy emotion, cold spots, tactile experiences, and even apports (like a quarter appearing on a bed featuring a person’s birth year). Reports also include sightings of elementals in the bushes, shadow people, black masses, and much more! History: The Indiana State Sanatorium was Indiana’s primary tuberculosis hospital from 1908 until 1968. After reopening as the Lee Alan Bryant Health Care Center in 1976, it operated as a nursing home and private mental health facility until its sudden closure in 2011, leaving behind numerous beds and medical equipment. Now, we have the chance to explore what remains! This location has been featured on Destination Fear. If you're interested in watching their episode, you can find it on Discovery+ in season 3, episode 14, along with a link/clip included in this post. Billy Creek Village: 65 Billie Creek Road, Rockville, IN 47872 Village Area includes: School House Catholic Church Civil War House Baptist Church Old Cabin Doctor's Office Governor's House Abandoned Shacks Three Covered Bridges Feel free to arrive earlier to explore the property during the day, as there may be other visitors present. At Billy Creek, a child has been captured on camera standing in the doorway of the school . Reports of noises and shadowy figures in the church abound, along with sounds of footsteps in the Civil War house, accompanied by a man’s voice talking and yelling from above. Figures and shadows have been seen throughout the grounds. Could these be Civil War soldiers? We will soon find out. Billy Creek Village is a 70-acre open-air living history museum and park, showcasing 38 historical buildings alongside hundreds of antiques and artifacts. Located near Rockville in Adams Township, Parke County, Indiana, this area is known as the "Covered Bridge Capital of the World," boasting 31 covered bridges. Established by local residents between 1964 and 1965, Billie Creek Village officially opened in 1969, managed by Billie Creek Village, Inc., with support from Parke County, Inc. The village is named after the nearby Williams Creek. Many of the buildings date back to the early 1900s, featuring structures ranging from an 1830s log cabin to a 1913 schoolhouse—all over a century old! The Billie Creek Inn, situated across the road, has been independent from Billie Creek Village since 2012. In addition to the covered bridges, Billie Creek Village features the 1830s Besson-DePlanty Cabin, the Billie Creek Village General Store, a pre-1900 post office that became the Billie Creek Village Bank, the 1913 schoolhouse, Dr. Rice’s mid-1800s office, the 1886 St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, the 1900s Gaebler Building, and many more.
