Join the Handstand Workshop Southampton, a comprehensive 2-hour session designed for beginners and those looking to elevate their handstand practice. This workshop caters to both beginners who have never attempted a handstand and intermediate participants who can hold a handstand for a few seconds away from the wall. Led by professional hand balancers, the workshop will delve into essential balancing techniques and drills that you can incorporate into your own handstand practice at your own pace.
Whether you're just starting your handstand journey or seeking to refine your technique and achieve consistent freestanding handstands, this workshop is perfect for you. In addition to mastering handstands, the content covered in the workshop will help you build upper body strength, improve flexibility and mobility, prevent and recover from handstand-related injuries, and overcome the fear of falling.
Participants from diverse backgrounds such as Yoga, Pole Dance, Gymnastics, Calisthenics, Crossfit, Climbing, Circus, Acro Yoga, and Fitness Enthusiasts have attended this workshop. Fitness professionals like Personal Trainers, Yoga and Pole Dance Teachers have also found value in understanding handstand techniques for their own practices and teachings.
The workshop is divided into two parts. The first part, lasting 60-90 minutes, covers warm-up drills, correct handstand alignment technique, balance strategies, and various handstand drills against the wall. The second part, which spans 30-60 minutes, focuses on additional themes such as cartwheels, stretching and mobility for handstands, and conditioning exercises. Depending on the venue and participants' level, the specific themes may vary slightly.
The workshop's learning outcomes include achieving balance both with and without the wall, using proper hand balancing technique for faster progression, improving body alignment to enhance balance and minimize injury risks, confidently entering a wall-supported handstand, safely bailing out of a handstand, enhancing consistency in handstand entries, preventing and recovering from handstand-related injuries, increasing mobility and flexibility, and ultimately, enjoying the process and having fun!
