As an advocate for the crafts, Sarah also assists in running a small leather accessories company and teaches basketry in Brighton. Emily combines modern and traditional techniques to teach you how to build a seat from the frame upwards. By the end of the day, you will have a finished piece to take home with you. The course covers the basics of modern upholstery, including the use of tools, webbing, hessian, foam, and fabric application. Most materials and tools will be provided, but please bring a 1m x 1m piece of fabric for the top cover. You can choose to bring your own dining chair or purchase a footstool frame from the tutor. Through literature, creative writing, storytelling, and other arts and cultural activities, the program aims to enhance nature connection in a safe and creative space. Writing Our Legacy CIC, established in 2012, is an arts and heritage organization that supports Black, Asian, and ethnically diverse/BPOC* individuals in sharing their stories through writing and the creative arts.
