It’s Midsummer’s eve and deep in an enchanted forest mischief is stirring. The Fairy King and Queen are feuding, four runaway lovers are tying themselves in knots, and a troupe of quite appalling actors are preparing a theatrical extravaganza destined to impress. With shapeshifting trouble-maker Puck at the helm, the course of true love never did run smooth. ★★★★★ – “So entertaining…laugh-out-loud funny” ★★★★★ – “One of the best Shakespeare plays I’ll ever watch” – The Bristol Post ★★★★★ – “The ultimate British theatrical experience” – Hastings Independent Press ★★★★★ – “Riotously fun. Hugely enjoyable” On Saturday 16th August, join us at National Trust - Dunster Castle. Bring your own cushions, and camping-chairs and join us on our 10th anniversary open-air adventure. Come prepared for the weather - the performance will continue come rain come shine! This performance is an outdoor performance. We recommend that you bring blankets/chairs/cushions etc. to sit on. Come prepared for the weather with warm coats and waterproofs etc, as the performance will continue come rain come shine! We ask that you don’t bring umbrellas as these can obscure the view for other people in the audience. 6.30pm start time, picnics welcome from 5.45pm. The performance will last approximately 100 minutes (+ a 20 minute interval). We recommend booking tickets for this performance online in advance. lesson description:| Fiore Longsword – Evolution Fiore dei Liberi was a 14th-century knight, diplomat, and fencing master who authored one of the earliest known fencing manuals, Flos Duellatorum (The Flower of Battle). In this manual, he details techniques for all major "knightly weapons," including the longsword, axe, and dagger, as well as unarmed combat. He also covers both armoured and unarmoured fighting. In this session, we will explore the progression of techniques in The Flower of Battle, beginning with fundamental grappling (abrazare), transitioning to dagger techniques (daga), and culminating in longsword applications. We will focus on key principles such as leverage, control, and adaptability, incorporating disarms, half-swording techniques, and their practical applications in combat. Level: Intermediate (Beginners welcome!) Required Equipment: Longsword, fencing mask, protective gloves, and gorget. Recommended Equipment: Shin and knee protectors, gambeson, elbow protectors, and a groin protector (for men) The event will be outside and whilst we will try to ensure that the weather doesn't beat us in the case of extreme weather we may have to move to a sports hall. Join us on Thursday 10th June 10am - 12pm for a guided walk around this newly created grassland nature reserve which was, until recently, an area of arable farmland. Horsley Meadows is a SANG (Suitable Alternative Natural Greenspace) and is managed on behalf of The Land Trust . Set in a quiet area of countryside near the village of West Horsley, it has a 2.3km trail which winds its way around the gently sloping site. There are magnificent mature oaks, newly planted hedgerows and areas of scrub under big skies. A newly seeded wildflower meadow also creates floristic diversity on the reserve. We hope to see many insects visiting the meadow area, whilst birds and small mammals will use the scrub for shelter and nesting. Buzzards and red kites can already be seen circling the site. Important information: The walk is approximately 1.5 miles on footpaths and tracks with some minor obstacles and steps. Walking boots are recommended. We will walk at a gentle pace with lots of opportunities to stop and ask questions. This walk is aimed at adults (18+ years old). Unfortunately this site is not suitable for wheelchair users or people with limited mobility. Please do not bring dogs on this walk. Parking and meeting place: Parking is available at Horsley Meadows car park, off Long Reach - see map / image below . What3words: ///radar.look.closes There are no toilets available on site. Journey into the realms of pure bliss by bathing in the magical sounds of Alchemy Crystal Singing Bowls, ocean drums, koshi chimes and more. Allow the beautiful vibrations to wash over you and bring in fresh energy, deep cleansing and clearing of anything no longer required. Sound healing has numerous benefits including helping to reduce stress and anxiety, improving sleep, boosting energy, balancing the energetic body, reducing physical pain and improving mental clarity. No prior experience is necessary. I work specifically with Alchemy Crystal Singing Bowls that are made with the highest quality quartz and produce the purest sound. They are blended with gems, minerals and precious metals to enhance their healing properties. Each bowl is a unique, one-off creation and my collection includes energies of nurturing, compassion, flow, loving communication, heart expansion, balance, ancient wisdom, crone energy, cleansing and celestial connection. WHAT TO EXPECT You can experience the sound bath lying down or seated. We begin by inviting the body to relax and open through the breath before the bowls begin to play. The sound waves created by the bowls help shift the brain into deeper states of relaxation and you may even fall asleep. It is in this relaxed state that the body can heal and restore. The crystal singing bowls are supported by other instruments that mimic sounds of nature - these sounds also allow the body to relax, soften and encourage a sense of safety in the nervous system. WHAT TO BRING You will need to bring something comfortable to lie down on and a blanket or two for warmth. If it is not comfortable for you to lie down you are very welcome to enjoy the session seated. You may wish to bring a pillow/cushion for added comfort. You may also want to bring water or throat sweets if you have a dry throat or cough. DRESS WARMLY IN LAYERS Please note your body temperature can drop by up to six degrees during a sound healing session so dress warmly/wear layers. I always recommend wearing thick socks! PLEASE NOTE Sound healing is suitable for most people but if you have any concerns about attending because of a specific condition please speak with your medical provider/GP. Sound healing may not be suitable if you have a pacemaker, severe mental health issues or are in the first trimester of pregnancy. LOCATION AND PARKING The hall sits behind the Church and can only be accessed from ROOKERY RISE, the road that runs behind Station Road. If approaching from the station end it's the first left onto Rookery Rise and then turn onto Trinity Fields (the fifth small road to the right). There is free parking at the Hall, direcly outside. Please arrive by 18.55 at the latest so we can all be settled to start at 19.00. Unfortunately there can be no entry after 19.00 as to not disturb other participants.
