The Busan Lantern Festival is a traditional cultural festival in Busan aimed at protecting and developing the national intangible cultural heritage of the Lantern Festival. The Lantern Festival is unique to Korea and has a history of approximately 1200 years. On Buddha's Birthday, people light lotus lanterns to pray for each other's happiness and well-being, and to promote community harmony and prosperity, holding significant cultural importance. The Lantern Festival has been inscribed on UNESCO's Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, and its traditions and values are widely recognized. The Busan Lantern Festival is dedicated to sharing, protecting, and developing traditional culture with its citizens through a variety of activities, including joint celebrations, lotus lantern parades, and traditional lantern exhibitions.
