Tip: Doomadgee is 475 km from Mount Isa and about 1,200 km from Cairns. If driving, you have a mix of bitumen roads and graded dirt roads to manoeuvre. 

The best places to stay: 

The best places to stay would be the Shire Council guesthouses for which you need permission from the Shire Council. There are no hotels, cafes or accommodation except for the council guesthouses. The town does offer the necessary facilities of fuel, food and general groceries at the town’s only general store.

Tip: Walking tours of the few Doomadgee landmarks located close by are recommended to interact with the locals and understand their culture.
