The view from this place is amazing, from both the rooms and top part with the pool, restaurants and skywalk.
Stayed in the tent type room which was very comfortable with modern beds and a/c
Had dinner up at the restaurant and it was decent food, but poor service. Breakfast was very, very weak. Probably the worst breakfast I’ve had in a hotel in Thailand in my 20 years of coming here.
Drivers could be called to take you back and forth from room to restaurant/pool, etc. They were very friendly and quick to come after calling the phone number.
View, especially at sunrise was breathtaking, but now that I’ve stayed one, I wouldn’t have a reason to stay again.
Our room was absolutely gorgeous, really spacious and spotlessly clean. The jacuzzi bath was fabulous and the view from the resort was magical. The food in the restaurant was OK, there are other cheaper and tastier restaurants within walking distance though. We hired a bike for the day which was hassle free and cheaper than the rental place next door. The pool area was beautiful and we even saw a couple of water monitor lizards. The owner and staff are super friendly and helpful, I would 100% recommend this place to anyone who wants a quiet, relaxed and authentic Thai island experience.

We booked this hotel for three nights, the ”Villa with Pool View” room. Upon check-in, we upgraded to an ocean wing, which is closer to the beach.
What I liked:
- location
- excellent breakfast, enough of everything
- quite a nice spacious villa with wooden furniture, normal internet, two showers (one of them outside) and a bath
- shower area is separated by a wardrobe, and not right in front of the windows - you can calmly change after a shower
- air conditioning worked well
- beautiful area, you can see that they clean
- enough sun loungers
- good TV, there is YouTube, you can connect HDMI
- great beach in front of the lighthouse
What I didn't like:
- lots of mosquitoes, had to ask several times to bring a fumigator
- service: took a long time to respond to a request for a fumigator, did not help with luggage upon checkout and did not really say goodbye
- no foot wash near the porch, you have to stomp to the shower with dirty feet
- no toothbrushes (further in the hotel rules it is written that toothbrushes are provided upon request, selling ”under the sauce” of care about ecology.)
Would we come back here again?
Probably yes, you just need to take mosquito repellent and toothbrushes with you :)
I visited over a weekend with my wife and three daughters. We booked a family beach villa and had a beautiful stay. Please note, that for those who are sensitive to mosquitoes, the rooms are infested with them. The property does their best in providing repellents of different types but good to know ahead of time. Also, to note, the family villa is one large open room with two king beds; perfect for families with small kids but not for two couples. The property’s access to the beach is ideal. We experienced the complimentary kayaking, and our long boat ride came to pick us up right off the private beach. The gardens, the swimming pool (1.2mtr), and the beach access makes It ideal for families with young children.
It's a nice hotel, the staff were friendly but only really did the basics, they didn't go out of there way to help. The soundproofing between the rooms is inadequate as I could hear adjacent rooms TV's and flushing toilets. And the room doors let noise into the room.
My biggest issue was with the breakfast. Poor choice (for a westerner) and it was all cold, but just warm enough make you wonder about bacteria growing.
I wouldn't mind waiting for things to be cooked (at least made hot) and unfortunately the breakfast is the last thing you experience before you leave so it is what leaves a lasting impression for me.
This is a very cost-effective resort. The infinity pool by the sea is beautiful👍 It feels 80 meters long and is the first choice for swimming enthusiasts. The breakfast is rich and delicious, the dinner is delicious and inexpensive, the single-family original thatched wooden house is very impressive, and the sunrise every morning🌅 is so beautiful! Tranquility and far-reaching ~

SSLYW_SGReview of Hotel Stay at Hotel Gahn Khao Lak
I recently had the pleasure of staying at Hotel Gahn Khao Lak and overall, it was a delightful experience. Here are the pros and cons of my stay:
Pros:
1) Hotel Gahn Khao Lak is located in a prime spot, just a short distance away from the main tourist area. This allows for a peaceful and tranquil stay while still being conveniently close to all the attractions.
2) The hotel itself is a beautiful boutique establishment, with a charming ambiance. From the moment you step into the entrance lobby, you are greeted with antique decorations that add a touch of elegance to the surroundings.
3) One of the highlights of this hotel is the Michelin 2022 and 2023 chef who prepares authentic Nonya cuisines. This is a culinary experience not to be missed, and the restaurant is sure to leave your taste buds satisfied.
4) The hotel is surrounded by many amenities and local food options within walking distance. This makes it convenient for guests to explore and indulge in the local flavors.
5) The breakfast at Hotel Gahn Khao Lak is simple yet delicious. It offers a variety of options to suit different preferences, and it's a great way to start your day on a positive note.
6) On a hot day, the hotel's refreshing little pool is a fantastic spot to take a dip and cool off. It provides a relaxing oasis where you can unwind and enjoy the tropical surroundings.
7) The owner and staff of the hotel are incredibly friendly and welcoming. They go above and beyond to ensure that guests have a pleasant stay and are always ready to assist with any queries or requests.
Cons:
1) One issue I encountered during my stay was the presence of lizards and flying pests, especially in rooms with balconies. While this may be a common occurrence in tropical settings, it can be unsettling for some guests.
2) The housekeeping service could use some improvement, particularly in terms of towel change and cleaning of used cups. It would be beneficial if these aspects were given more attention to enhance the overall cleanliness of the rooms.
Rating: 8.5/10
In conclusion, Hotel Gahn Khao Lak offers a memorable stay with its good location, beautiful ambiance, authentic cuisine, and friendly staff. While there are a few areas that could be improved upon, the overall experience is highly enjoyable. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a unique and charming getaway in Khao Lak.
EEasyGonI had a great experience staying at Apsara Resort. The staff were warm, friendly, and always ready to help, which really made a difference. The bar was fantastic—great drinks and atmosphere! And the location? Absolutely amazing. Whether you’re there to relax or explore, it’s the perfect spot. Highly recommend!
GGuest UserNice stay. The staff are excellent and really go the extra mile. The breakfast and restaurant staff in particular are fabulous. Housekeeping staff are also lovely. The rooms are being upgraded now and there's a fair bit of renovation work, especially in the beach side of the resort. We stayed in the pool access wing and the pool itself was very big. The beach is stunning, even in low season with driving rain, wind and high waves. It must be incredible here in high season. Worth staying here for such a bargain price.
VVladislavKhaolak Wanaburee Resort is an ideal place for those who appreciate nature, comfort, and tranquility.
Pros: The hotel boasts a large, well-maintained area with a beautiful landscape design. It has everything: direct beach access, a picturesque stream, and even a lake. The rooms are very clean, modern, and truly meet the standards of a 5-star hotel. Daily housekeeping ensures impeccable cleanliness. The charming bridges connecting different parts of the property add a special touch. Walking across them feels like being in untouched jungles. The beach is well-equipped with sunbeds and umbrellas, and there’s a cozy beachside café nearby where you can have lunch or dinner while enjoying the sea view. The resort’s territory is full of life: you’ll see many butterflies and even friendly monitor lizards wandering around, adding to the tropical paradise vibe.
Cons: Breakfasts could be more varied, especially in terms of fresh pastries.
Good to know: The nearest 7/11 or town café is about a 15-minute walk away (there’s a sidewalk). If you prefer not to walk, a taxi costs 100 baht.
The closest self-service laundry is a 15-minute drive away (400 baht).
Overall, Khaolak Wanaburee Resort is a perfect choice for those looking to relax in harmony with nature while enjoying comfort and quality service. Highly recommended!
GGuest UserGreat resort - large complex, huge rooms.
Amenities were perfect for what we wanted.
And the location close to a pleasantly bustling street really made our trip special.
A selection of pools, generally enough sun beds, well kept gardens.
Breakfast was really nice.
Would recommend
DDallasWe had the pleasure of staying at Sametnangshe Boutique, and though the location is quite remote with not much around except for long-tail boat excursions, the peaceful atmosphere made it worth the trip. The highlight was undoubtedly the breathtaking sunrise, which you can enjoy right from your room. We stayed in Villa 18, and the views from there were truly stunning—every sunrise and sunset felt like a magical experience, and we have countless photos and videos to remember it by.
The service was exceptional, with Nina and the staff going above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. While the hotel doesn’t have a spa, it’s important to note that this is a boutique property, not a large resort. Despite that, the peacefulness and the unforgettable views made our stay truly special.
If you're looking for a quiet, serene escape with some of the most beautiful sunrises you’ll ever see, Sametnangshe Boutique is the perfect choice. We would definitely return!
CCeonThis is a beautiful resort. It is a bit large and can take a bit of walking to get around especially if your room is not close to the main lobby. The resort itself is well maintained and up to date, however, the air conditioning in our room was not working as it should but the staff resolved this for us and offered us another room which was great. The breakfast for us was one of the highlights, we loved all the options. The sunsets in Khao Lak are amazing and this hotel sits right on the beach so it’s a wonderful experience watching the sunsets every evening. I would say that the hotel is a bit large and busy and with that you can loose the personal touch, for example we notified them that we were celebrating our 9th wedding anniversary but no nice gestures for offered. The front staff are also a bit abrupt and seems to be occupied but again the hotel is busy so this is expected. Altogether we had a great time and would possibly visit again.

GGuest UserOverall is a good place to stay at and we would recommend it. The hotel is a bit old style, but the property is very clean, well kept and quiet. The garden is very big, beautiful and peaceful. It has 2 pools with enough sun beds and umbrellas. We went beginning of tourist season so I guess it would be different if we went a bit later. The gym could use some new machines. For the breakfast it was ok, but I wish they had more vegetarian options for myself, but I managed. Service was great and also the check-in and check-out was fast. The location is right next to a he main road so there are plenty of restaurants around and also the beach is close by. Just need to pass through an alley on the side of their other 5* resort. They can help you organize trips and taxi service also. Unfortunately I only have pictures of the beach on my phone.
