Hostels in Penang, Malaysia

A decent option for an overnight stay near the airport. It has good air conditioning, two ceiling fans, a shower with hot water, nice bedding and towels. There's a water cooler with hot and cold water (located in the smoking area), and an iron available at the front desk. They immediately provided a plug adapter at reception upon request. The staff are friendly. A taxi from the hotel to the airport costs 10-15 ringgit. Regarding the downsides: you have to take off your shoes at the hotel entrance, but they provide a shoe locker with a key to keep them secure. I was also given a room whose window faced the reception, specifically it was right behind the receptionist's back, but it was quiet at night and I managed to get a good night's sleep, so that didn't bother me.

The hotel's location is excellent and easy to find. My room was a bit close to the road, so it was quiet at night but a little noisy during the day. The rooftop is also a great spot for drying clothes.

I was very satisfied with my overall experience at this hotel! First and foremost, the most convenient aspect was the airport transfer service. The driver was punctual and friendly, making the journey from the airport to the hotel very smooth. I didn't have to worry about transportation or getting lost at all. This service is truly thoughtful, especially for first-time visitors to the city. The hotel's hygiene was also quite impressive. Whether it was the lobby, elevators, or inside the rooms, everything was meticulously cleaned, and the air was fresh with no unpleasant odors. The bed in the room was soft and comfortable, the bathroom was clean and tidy, and all the towels and amenities were well-stocked, making for a very reassuring stay. The daily cleaning service was also excellent; the staff would proactively clean and replenish daily necessities. The location was also fantastic. The hotel is situated in a very convenient area with many restaurants, cafes, and convenience stores nearby. You can easily find food or daily essentials within a short walk. Whether you want to try local specialties or just grab a quick meal, it's incredibly easy. Moreover, the hotel is not far from shopping malls and public transportation, making it convenient for taking a taxi or public bus.

I booked the 4-bed dorm thinking that only 4 guests would use the shower & toilet. But apparently, the 2 shower-toilet combined were used by all the other rooms & dorms. It was getting awkward with many females frequently entering the washroom area. A room no.205 has access directly through the washroom.. Weird! (picture attached). I could hear some odd conversations between 2 boys & a girl from that room while brushing teeth in the morning. The dorm which was sufficient only for one single bed is filled with 2 bunk beds, so there is no space at all in the dorm room. You have to directly jump onto the bed. My dorm room was on second floor with no elevator. The only 3 good points about this hostel are that they provide a towel for hostel beds, is located on a main street in Georgetown, and has complementary breakfast for everyone (bread-butter-jam, tea-coffee, and watermelon). Wifi & AC were good.

This is a great place to stay. If I come to Penang again, I will definitely stay here again. The accommodation is clean, the atmosphere is great, and Lucas and all the staff took great care of us. There were many activities for us to participate in during our stay. I made many new friends here. Thank you.

1. Location is good. Within walking distance can reach some of the famous spots. 2. For first time guest, it will find difficult to enter to the hostel reception area. The bell not functioning so will need to find the side entrance to go in (need to explore as no indicator show). 3. Did not provide towel. A rental basis which I found that “hostel” should at least provide one and if to renew then charge. For short-term stay do not expect will bring towel. 4. Saw their notice on luggage storage charge and late check-in after 10pm. So does it mean those flight in late better don’t book this hostel. 5. As the hostel just near to the road side so it is clearly hear the motorist and vehicle sounds; very clear as if no reduce of noise at all.

The staff at the hotel is so friendly and welcoming. Excellent service. The room is spacious, clean and bed very comfortable.  Walking distance to Gurney drive and Gurney promenade. Early morning watch sun rises over the horizon. The promenade is big and clean. People jogging.  Food court nearby.  Hotel 22 is the most colourful hotel in the area and can be seen from a distance.  Would recommend anyone to stay in Hotel 22 if they are on the budget.

Nice ,near to armenian street and other place espectially padang kota,travel with friends and for the parking u can park at the certain area (charge)but if u guys just by public transport also easier

The hotel management is good they do the room cleaning service on time and overall the room are spacious and air condition with free wifi and hot and cold water is also there

The rooms were incredibly clean, the environment was great, and there were plenty of amenities. We were a group of four, and the room was huge, with lots of comfy bean bags and lounge chairs. The bathroom was also spotless and came with toothbrushes and toothpaste. The service attitude was excellent. The room cleaning service was also top-notch; the towels were new, the bed linen smelled fresh, and the hygiene was impeccable. The landlady and the caretaker were both incredibly kind and friendly, making us feel right at home. If we ever come back to Penang, we'll definitely stay here again. Every time we left or came back, we'd have a little chat with the caretaker – they're truly wonderful and lovely people.
