Leura's Magical Manderley

After reading all the glowing reviews on here, we were very disappointed with our stay at Magical Manderley. However, we have also discovered that there are now new owners, so it seems that the wonderful experiences others were speaking of are not the same anymore. Certainly no little luxuries, chocolates etc. This was not our concern though. We stayed in the top apartment. On arrival we found it to be not clean. The carpet was filthy, not vacuumed in a very long time. Along with dirt and dust, there were dead moths and flies on the carpet and kitchen bench, and food crumbs and dust on the coffee table and rug in the living room. The microwave was also not clean. The TV did not work, we tried for over an hour to find channels, and eventually got only SBS. The TV is old, not a smart TV, so no option for using Netflix etc. For the price they are asking a smart TV should be there. There is a king bed, but strangely they had a queen size quilt on it, not the quilt in the pictures. Once again for the price, why have a quilt too small for the bed? However, considering the state of the rest of the cleaning, the bed linen was clean, as was the bathroom. We contacted the company who manages it, who were apologetic and offered us a small refund, which we did appreciate. They however, did not offer any explanation as to why it was not cleaned, or as it was a two night stay, to come and clean it. We are hoping that our experience was a one off, and that the new owners have addressed these problems. The place itself is lovely, with the highest potential if maintained properly. The gardens are gorgeous, and the position is just a very short stroll to Leura Mall.

We had a lovely relaxing weekend and wonderful stay at Manderley. Truly Magical it was! The accommodation was lovely with gas fireplace and huge spa bath along with plenty of soft towels and a super comfy bed. Also being only minutes walk to Leura shops, cafe's and restaurants the location couldn't be better. The warmth and generosity of the host, Robyn was above and beyond. Nothing was too much trouble and lovely treats were provided for our enjoyment including an abundant supply of fresh breakfast goodies. We will certainly be visiting again and often. Thank you Robyn.

Magical Manderley. Our home away from home. Robyn Paddington made us feel so welcome and embodies the true meaning of the word hospitality. Complimentary breakfast supplies, cheese and bikkies, fruit, juice, sparkling water, beer, sparkly, cake, biscuits and chocolates. And she topped up our chocolates, and sparkly! We knew when she’d done the housekeeping to bring fresh towels when the lamps and heater were on, the candle was lit, a newspaper and music playing. Robyn is a gem. So friendly and nothing is too much trouble. The self contained unit Treetops is so cozy and well appointed with nothing missed and attention to detail. Even an umbrella at the front door. I can’t recommend Magical Manderley enough and hope you get the chance to experience Robyn’s warmth and hospitality. Nicki

Once again i get to write about this truly magical place. I went to Manderley last year and stayed in the Terrace Apartment. (See earlier review.) This time we stayed in the "treetops Apartment". WOW. I really thought you could not top the Terrace but the Treetops is at another level again. From the room, the King size bed, The kitchen with everything you need to cook in if you so desire, the inclusions like eggs, bacon, cereal, milk, bread, drinks, etc etc etc. The spa was magical and so relaxing. Plus all the extras that are on offer at no extra charge like port, chocolates etc. Robyn, the hostess is such a wonderful human being, gracious, friendly, helpful with lots of information about Leura that we may need. I can honestly say it was one of the most pleasurable experiences i have ever had. There was nothing i could add/need to make the few days we spent there any better. If you want a truly romantic location with just about all inclusions, this is it. Magical Manderley truly lives up to the expectations that are spoken about. I would give this wonderful place a 6 Star rating. See for your self. I guarantee you will agree. Henry
