Quinta de Sao Luiz the Vine House

It is the place where you can feel silence with wonderful view. Our room was very good. Quinta gives comfortable room with wonderful view Douro River. Quinta offers vineyard tour Kopke porto vine production. We spent 4 amazing days im this place.

Once we arrived and checked in they let us know that the last tour of the day was about to start so we decided to head over to meet our guide in the vineyard and then back to enjoy and sample Kopke port wines. We booked the Deluxe Room with Balcony - #103 with what I must say was a great room, comfortable king size bed, Shower with nice water pressure, small fridge with drinks for a fee. The best part I must say are the room views of the Douro river and vineyards. We enjoyed a bottle of wine we bought after the tour and relaxed on the terrace while enjoying the view. Later that evening we booked a table at the The Vine House restaurant and had a great dinner. My wife is vegetarian and we found there was a good amount of choices on the menu. We let Chef Vitor de Oliveira guide us through the wine list and what paired well with his recommendations on the menu. The next morning the breakfast was great with a nice offering including fresh squeezed orange juice. The hotel is located between towns Pinhão and Peso da Régua. We had arranged for an uber from our hotel in Porto to the Quinta São Luiz hotel and took the train back from Pinhão. One thing to note we took taxis to and from Pinhão and our transportation from Quinta São Luiz to Pinhão was 20 euro each way. While in Pinhão take boat rides, visit the train station, walk around the small town and one the highlights for us was the tour of Quinta das Carvalhas and wine tasting. Walking distance from the town and an amazing tour we will never forget. Book ahead as they sell out fast. Our only regret is that we only booked one night at Quinta São Luiz Douro. We would highly recommend it to anyone and the staff really made it the perfect stay.

The welcome that we got on check- in was the most warm and professional that we have had anywhere in the Douro so far. Our room was huge with excellent views, a Nespresso , powerful shower, excellent air conditioning and very comfortable bed. We ate breakfast, lunch and dinner at the restaurant. Staff do so much to make you comfortable and make excellent suggestions for wine pairing. This is a working vineyard and your stay includes a free tour and tasting , which is very interesting. The hotel is quite new and in very good condition . There is an infinity pool with beautiful views . Like most of the hotels with great views in this region, the drive up to the hotel is along a scary narrow driveway, but here they have a clever traffic light system to ensure you do not meet a huge truck coming the other way. In an areas with so many hyper- expensive 5 star hotels , it was great to find such a stylish yet affordable alternative. Big enough to offer facilities , but small enough that personal touch and hospitality is not lost.

We only went there for dinner. Poor experience. Pork cachaço and Arouquesa was quiet good. Cod rice was very poor , salted and the rice to watery ( I suspect that there was a delay , rice became to dry and they just added hot water. The cheese and "enchidos" plate was good. Wine also good , the option we choosed. Slow and poor service! poured the wine for tasting and served the person that tasted the wine. That's not the correct procedure. The wine is given for tasting than it's served to the ladies , starting from the oldest and the latest to be served is the one who tasted it. We asked for the menu and only one was handled and again given to me instead of the ladies. Wrong. When paying the waiter handled me the multibanco device , passing it just in front of my wife. Wrong ! the right thing to do was to come by my side and handled it. Emplyoees speak to much with the clients ! it was a torture to listen to them , they should limit to the essential information requested. Expensive considering the price/quality Not to repeat

Quinta Sao Luiz, Douro Valley: The entrance foreboded a romantic story and a dramatic entrance of plunging stunning terraced vineyards. There is a deck area with classy deck chairs where you can feast to the stunning views. But the tour was disappointing. The guide seemed disinterested and was barely audible since he was barely even speaking. He made wine a dull, dry and insipid. Unlike the Kopke range of wines we tried. #eatstylishtravelstylish
