Danae Hotel

OK, so first of all, Aegina is awesome and you should definitely visit the island. The hotel was cool and located on 1km away from the main township. There is a good pool at the hotel, however you want to get your poolside chair early as these get snapped up. The room was pretty good. It was a good size and it had a nice balcony with a sea view. The room was air conditioned which helped. I also liked that the balcony got afternoon sun so all your clothes would dry in literally an hour. Just a little bit on Aegina itself. This island is awesome. It's a 40 minute ferry from Athens. You get the Greek Island experience here wothout the crazy prices and crowds. The water is crystal clear and warm. The food is good and some of the island cats love a pat. Unfortunately some of the hotel staff were a bit rude at times which brought the rating down. There was also no lift which was annoying. This was a good place to be based at to explore Aegina. Would stay here again.

Hotel Danae was a lovely hotel in a ideal location just a short stroll from Aegina town. The hotel was very clean and the grounds and colourful flowers well maintained! The pool and poolside chairs and small bar were a big plus. Breakfasts and the staff were fist class. We would stay here again in a heartbeat!!

The hotel rooms and pool were lovely, we ordered lunch from the menu and were not disappointed the lunches were delicious and reasonably priced. We paid for breakfast €8 was worth it both hot and cold choices. I wanted to order a mijito in hotel bar and pool bar but never any mint? The downside of the hotel staff were helpful but not friendly, there was no water in the fridge on arrival and only two tea bag's, no milk, sugar or coffee sachets in the room's ihad to ask for coffee sachets but was told they only provide tea! Although they did give me a couple, they were not replenished. It's an easy 15 minute walk to the town. A taxi back is €5

Extremely rude staff. Especially the cleaning staff was extremely bad, it was clear that they didn't enjoy working and they looked at us with hate. Also, the rooms were kind of dirty, and security guards were clearly bored to work. I really don't suggest it, it was a pretty bad expierience living there.

The bedroom was basic but comfortable enough. The bathroom was very good. Breakfast had many choices but a lot of the food was pre packaged/processed. The pool was full of leaves. Sadly, on arrival, no one said ‘welcome to the hotel’. The reception staff were efficient but not smiling. At breakfast staff didn’t greet us apart from demanding our room number. In fact the only staff who engaged with us in a friendly manner were those who cleaned the bedroom: they always wished us kalimera and smiled. We were worried when we arrived to find a large school party in residence but the children were very well behaved and did not cause us any problem. The website doesn’t make it clear that you don’t offer evening meals (which didn’t bother us as we were happy to walk to the town). We last visited the Danae 46 years ago. The building has undergone some renovation and looks good but the real difference was on our last visit we were made to feel welcome by everyone. We enjoyed our stay but it could have been so much better with friendly staff.

It is the most impolite and disgraceful experience I have ever had with a receptionist front office - especially when having a medical issue Had the unfavourable incident of being infected with Covid not being able to visit the hotel on the booked dates and the front office lady coldblooded informed me that we can not arrange for our visit another time in the future I definitely do not recommend this hotel and their approach to customers I wish them to use the booking fees on some customer care policy seminars

Visited on our family vacation and enjoyed our stay here. Misplaced phone in taxi and the staff tracked it down for me and got it on a ferry to pickup from Athens. Went above and beyond to be helpful!

We were blown away by how beautiful the pool area was. We stayed 5 days and we will definitely be coming back. Room looked newly renovated. Fantastic shower and very comfortable bed. Air-conditioning and a mini fridge available in the room. Our room 302 had the sea views and it was great in the evenings to sit with a glass of wine in the balcony. There is a little path with steps to the beach in the front. We tried it and it is not the easiest to get in the water. Lots of stones and sea urchins. If you like wild beaches you will love this one. We spent most of our time relaxing by the pool. The bar provides drinks (which are allowed in the pool area). There was lunch options available from 1 to 3pm and from what I understand dinner from 7 to 9pm (in high season). We only tried the club sandwich once which was good. We were too full from breakfast most of the times so ended up walking to town for food. Breakfast was a great spread. Lots of options with really good quality ingredients. The walk to town is around 10 to 15 minutes. Not very pleasant at dark though. There is a taxi rank at the entrance of the port with a cost from 2.5 to 5 euros (it varied each time). Staff at the hotel are super friendly. They are always checking if anything is needed and always with a smile. We had such a relaxing time!
