Agnes Palms Accommodation

STAYED OVERNIGHT ON WAY TO TOWNSVILLE. Great room good sleep. Good vibes. Generous free additions like orange juice milk coffee. Spreads and bread for toast. At such a bargain price. Lovely and clean. Will def come back!

I don’t really know how to put that bad experience into words, so here are the main points: - a dog was in our room during the and also pooed and peed in there (I’m allergic to dogs) - the staff is weird and didn’t react to pur request to turn of the AC though everybody in the room asked for it - there’s no atmosphere at all on the place (the two other backpackers are DOPE + they have a shuttle that brings you to the bus station) - mattresses are laid through - ants all over the bathroom

I've never written a review before, but I feel obliged to write one now. I was pleasantly surprised by the hostel and what was offered. There was everything you needed in the kitchen, the pool table and the surfboard hire were a great addition (surfboard hire was so cheap!). The owner lighting candles at all the dinner tables gave a homely vibe, and we thought the whole place was a cool vibe. Greg, the owner, was very welcoming and enthusiastic, providing us with a map and his knowledge of Agnes Waters and 1770. However, our stay was negatively impacted by a long-term guest who also works at the front reception. We found that she was very intrusive and quite blunt and rude in our conversations. We felt very uncomfortable at times. Overall, it was a great stay, Greg and the cool vibe of the hostel outweighed our experience with the other worker. We definitely plan on coming back :))

I really thoroughly enjoyed my time at the 1770 YHA, it was probably the most relaxed and easy going hostel I've ever been to. The manager Greg is amazing, he does everything to help you out and make sure you're comfortable, plus he also feeds you loads of info and knowledge about places to visit in the area. I appreciated the breakfast, teas and coffees, enjoyed the cosy TV room and made some really good friends in this place! The only small downside was that the kitchen stove barely worked, but apart from that it's 5 stars from me!

There was no one at reception my whole stay so when they only gave me one towel for my daughter and I, I couldn't go ask for a second one and couldn't get a hold of anyone. There was old soap in the bathroom and drink condemsation and sticky stuff on the bedside so it obviously hadn't been cleaned appropriatly. There were 2 dogs from other people staying that would bark at my daughter and I every time we walked through the common areas which you have to do to get to your room. There was always a smoker at the entrance so we had to walk throufh smoke every time we entered or exitted the place. As a non smoker with my daughter this was disgusting. I has spoken to someone on the phone before arriving about late checkout so my daughter could have a nap before we left. I was told this was fine and to just leave when she woke up. At 10:40am right after I had gotten her down, I had housekeeping knocking on the door saying they thought I was checking out. My daughter woke up screaming and I could not get her back to sleep. The least they could've done was have someone at reception but again, no one!

it is a very nice place near the beach with very friendly and helpful staff, you have a breakfeast included in the morning, a big kitchen and nice chealing areas, you meet a lot of nice people around, thanks

I went for a couple of nights to celebrate my birthday and I definitely go back soon. Very friendly environment. The bedroom with ensuite bathroom was clean and comfy. The location is great, 200m from the beach.

Hard to find staff, although others helped us get a room. It was a quiet private room, but no TV or fridge. Which meant I had to use the communal frisge and someone used all my lactose free milk, which meant no coffee for me. NOT HAPPY JAN. bed way too hard,barely slept

Stayed at YHA 1770. Was greeted by a very pleasant, helpful and informative young Lady who was of great assistance. Accommodation was great with everything you expect from YHA. It is within walking distance from shops etc and getting to 1770 isn't too difficult. A HUGE thank you to Emma for her great assistance.
