Ako Onsen Shokichi

The oysters were extremely delicious. Eating oysters in their homeland is the best after all. Oyster season is almost over, but this is an accommodation I would definitely like to use again if I have the opportunity. The view of Shodoshima and Ieshima from the window was very atmospheric and it was great to be able to enjoy the scenery. ************************************************************************************************************************************

We stayed in a room with an open-air bath on the top floor. The inn is located on a cape overlooking the Seto Inland Sea, and the view is amazing. The food was delicious and the portions were plentiful. The hospitality was excellent, and we had a very pleasant stay. Most of the staff were young, and they worked efficiently. We stayed with our one-year-old child, and they provided a baby chair in the dining area from the start, and even though we didn't ask for it, they gave us white rice separately for our child, which was very helpful. We would definitely stay here again if we have the opportunity.

1 night, 2 meals, standard Japanese-style room, 10 tatami mats (no bath) / with shower (no indoor bath), for 2 adults, when we arrived at the hotel, there was a hotel staff member who guided our car, we dropped off our luggage and carried it to the parking lot ourselves, it was full because we arrived late, so the hotel staff felt sorry for us as we had to turn around and park our car, and guided us, after we checked in and were given tea and sweets, we were shown to our room when we finished eating, on the way we listened to the guide to the hotel, it's not a big hotel, but there were free drinks, sake tasting, sweets, etc., when we entered the room and listened to the guide to the room, they explained it to us carefully, the room was not that big, but it was spacious enough for two people to relax, and the amenities were the bare minimum, even if there was no bath in the room, the large public bath was enough, it was nice to have ice cream and free drinks after the bath, the chairs in the lobby were also unique, so it might be a good idea to find a chair that suits you, it would be nice to sit on a chair and watch the sunset, or wake up early in the morning and watch the sunrise, both the sunrise and sunset were beautiful, I wish we had a little more time. I recommend this for those who want to enjoy the sunset, eat delicious food, and take a leisurely bath in the hot springs.

The rooms and baths overlook the sea, and the food is delicious no matter what you eat. The facility may be old, but the staff are all pleasant and have done their best to make the place feel comfortable. Seafood and meat are delicious, but the courses, such as oysters and conger eel, which change depending on the season, will keep you full every time, even though the ingredients are the same. It's also fun to relax and enjoy coffee, sweets, and alcohol samples in the lobby while looking out at the ocean. This is an inn that you would want to keep a secret as it would be a problem if it got crowded.

The food and baths were both satisfying. Both of the two large baths have great views, and the men's and women's baths are switched in the morning and evening, so I was able to relax while looking at the scenery.

I was surprised at the generous service. Snack tasting, cold sake tasting, unlimited coffee, unlimited ice cream, water and tea to avoid overheating in the bath, and even a Famicom Mini in the lobby. It was really amazing. The Famicom Mini was so used that the cross key was starting to work poorly (lol). I wish the open-air bath was a little bigger. That said, the oyster dishes were delicious and I was very satisfied. I wish I could have had rice porridge in the oyster pot. I was also very satisfied with the Japanese food in the morning.

The bath, games, sake tasting, ice cream, etc. were all great. However, there were some things that bothered me. First of all, Nakai-san? was not wearing a kimono, but was dressed like a clerk or caregiver. The dining area was tatami mats, but I was surprised that Nakai-san and his friends were wearing their shoes, not sandals or shoes. Especially the place to eat. I thought it was unsanitary. To be honest, the food was not very tasty. The sashimi was just covered in ice, so it looked very fresh. It was also not very good when I ate it. The oysters were also tasteless, probably because they had been pre-boiled. Other things were not very impressive and did not taste good. The fried oysters were just average. The dessert was only a small amount. Not tasty. The breakfast was like a good hospital meal. We paid about 50,000 yen for the accommodation, but it was not worth it. Also, the building was cold. I wish the dining area was at least warmer. The room was small, but it was okay for the two of us. The view from the balcony was not very good because of the fence. There was a strong sewage smell from the sink or bathroom at first. It's old, so I guess that can't be helped. The service was very average. I passed by someone from the kitchen, but they ignored me. I had high hopes for this place because of the good reviews, but it wasn't that great. I've stayed at a lot of ryokans, and there are many better places to stay considering the price. Personally, I won't be coming back, but I think they should improve.

This hotel was very thoughtful and wonderful. For example, there are 60 kinds of expensive one-of-a-kind chairs from the lobby to the corridors, bathrooms, and rooms. I think that the guests can find a chair that they like and spend a relaxing time. It's a small thing, but toothbrushes are usually the same color, but here there are two colors. So that even couples can clearly distinguish their toothbrushes. Also, there is no mistake in writing a mark on the slippers in the hotel with a green felt tip pen. The lobby lounge is a wonderful space with a panoramic view of the sea, and at different times, coffee, local sake tasting time, mandarin mochi, and popsicles (this is available all the time) are served. The bath juts out into the sea, so the view is amazing! The radium spring water warms you up and is a life-cleansing experience. I was most impressed with the food. I ordered an oyster kaiseki dinner, and it overturned my notion that raw and grilled oysters are the best. I was impressed by the variety of dishes that exceeded my imagination! I counted 16 large oysters in this dish. The food was excellent, from the chawanmushi to the end, and I would be willing to pay 5,000 to 10,000 yen for each dish. My wife was also very happy. The portions were a little too much for my taste. I also felt that the waitresses were serving us with great sincerity and dedication. I thought that this was what you would expect from a hotel that is listed in the Michelin Guide.

The hotel interior is by no means new, but it was clean and comfortable, and from the ocean view room, I felt luxurious as I sat in a massage chair and watched the calm Seto Inland Sea and the ships passing by. I also enjoyed the sake tasting service available until 6pm. The food was wonderful both in the morning and evening, but the roasted Himeji beef and fried oysters at dinner were especially delicious and I wanted seconds. I would definitely stay here again.
