My husband and i went to vila Petra for 9 days from October 10th to 19th to celebrate my birthday on 15th. The location was a bit too far from the beaches with no shuttle services and as 2 74 year olds, one with a bad hip problem and one with a heart problem it was too far to walk to Oura beach. However, we got taxis to and from Fisherman's beach which is well worth a visit. My birthday was wonderful. We were out for a meal at Jardem Rustico restaurant, just along the facing road and then turn right. It was very good steaks but a tad expensive compared to other places. We went to Sentido 5 a lot and I can highly recommend it. Turn left at the end of the road. Say hello to Janinina from Joyce and Steve. We really enjoyed her service and long discussions. The food and the chef is superb. We had an apartment, room only. It was spacious and the kitchen was clean and had everything you need to cook, though we just had breakfasts and lunch. Weather was hot for the full 9 days so enjoyed snacks, breakfast on the balcony. So glad we chose room only because apparently, according to some guests we spoke to the food was not good, tough meats and cold food! The entertainment was good but if you don't like Karaoke, then avoid this. The team were enthusiastic and some good singers, especially Maria. I sang on my birthday but not that good. Its a laugh anyway. Liked the quizzes and musical bingo. The other bingo was boring. So average entertainment but good fun. The bar staff were good and Attentive though a tad expensive. Must mention David the barman who looked after us all the time and he's a fantastic barman, polite, helpful and good sense of humour. I think it was him who organised for me a large piece of delicious chocolate cake plus candle for my birthday. Everyone sang happy birthday to me which I loved. Very surprised . We enjoyed the indoor pool which was warm but I was shocked that you have to pay extra for the sauna, steam rooms. It gets a bit noisy with kids running up and down, and the shouting of lots of stag do men sometimes. I could hear next door arguing, using the toilet etc... Overall because of the wonderful friendly, helpful staff, the spacious apartments and the closeness to shops, bars and restaurants, cafes we would return . Much more to see.. Everywhere was clean, and our room cleaned every day, towels changed, and I had a bathtub too.. The pool table needs looking at though. Beautiful gardens, I forgot to mention with benches all around, a little cafe and loads of sunbeds, no need to fight for those.
