Booked this "upscale boutique" hotel for New Year’s Eve, but it was a huge letdown. Despite booking early, the restaurant was fully booked, and no one warned us or offered reservations beforehand. The room? Tiny, cheap finishes, no bathtub, no amenities—just a Nespresso machine. For the price, it’s nowhere near boutique level. One star, and that’s generous.

We booked this place mostly because of the spa space and the indoor heated pool. The pool was flat out cold (totally cold switched off) everytime we tried to use it. We complained at the reception several times. They said many times over the course of 2 days they would turn it on. They never did, and made us wait all the while. We later read reviews of other guests also complaining at the lack of heating in the rooms in the winter. Bottom line, the hotel seems to want to save money on energy bills at the expense of customers. Theres a lack of privacy between the toillet, the shower and the bed space which are not separated. Don’t recommend for people who are still getting to know each others toilet habits. The staff is friendly, they mislead you with a great smile on their face. DONT GO!

The stay was very relaxing. Nice property and good mountain view from the Family Villa. The manager Ms. Carlota was very kind, polite and accomodative to every request.She arranged for special decrations for my daughter"s birthday. The front office staff do their best and Mr. Nuno deserves a special mention.Overall, a very good experience.God bless you, all.

We chose this hotel to spend my husband's birthday and because it was petfriendly and we were very impressed. It is very well located, the breakfast is good and the indoor pool area is also pleasant. We recommend it to anyone who wants to visit the wonderful Serra da Estrela, but at the same time stay close to the city. Now, take a trip to the village of Piódão,amazing!

Too over pricy for what you receive
It is a hotel in the old town of Covilha. The room was clean and good size.
It is too overprice for what you get. The SPA consists of a small pool, a sauna and a steam sauna and a tiny Gym with two machines.
Big families with kids can be in the SPA, there is no rules for using your cellphone either. So, it is an environment more towards a family than a SPA relaxing environment for couples.
The bar tender was good.
The town at night have a some restaurants, the hotel does not have a restaurant, it does not have service to your room. Only breakfast buffet where you have to make your own coffee and serve yourself. Which is fine if you pay for a three stars hotel but definitely it is too expensive for the type of service you receive and for the overall amenities.

We spent 3 days over Christmas at Pena D’Água and the experience was magical! It was our 2nd time staying and this time we brought our family & puppy to spend Christmas at this lovely hotel. On the first night, my husband couldn’t sleep because of noise from a leak in the bathroom, and the next day we were promptly upgraded to a better room. We had Christmas Eve dinner at the hotel’s restaurant Açafrão, which in our opinion, was better than some Michelin Star meals we have had. The attention to detail, the quality of the food, the service… everything was incredible. The coziness of the hotel and friendliness of the staff is unmatched. The team went above and beyond to ensure our stay was super special. A special thank you to Francisco and Nuno for making our stay so incredibly pleasant. Their professionalism and kindness made all the difference! Also, if you want a relaxing massage during your stay, we highly recommend Margarida, she’s amazing! We will be back to enjoy another stay at this lovely hotel which feels like a home away from home! Thanks so much, Bianca, Cameron & Buddy

Wonderful hotel.
This hotel was a jewel. It was beautiful and the staff was super friendly. Our room was spacious with incredible views. The spa and pool was peaceful and very chill. Breakfast was amazing and they have a highly rated restaurant attached that was truly fantastic. We had a wonderful stay and only a short drive to the most amazing scenery at Sera da Estrella park! Highly recommend staying at this hotel.
