What a lovely hotel! beautifully converted from the original castle and spotlessly clean, this was a joy. We stum led upon it by accident and it ended up being a highlight of our trip. The village of Alvito is tiny, quiet, and charming. Highly recommended!

This is a very special place to come and visit. Beautiful property, stunning location and so very peaceful. Our bedroom was huge and comfortable, really did feel like we were staying in a castle! And what made our short stay even more delightful were the wonderful, kind, and attentive staff. Everyone we interacted with spoke amazing English and were so keen to make our stay perfect. Would definitely recommend.

What a lovely surprise this was - staying in a castle on the last night of a long road trip. Our room overlooked the courtyard with big windows which let in plenty of sunlight. There was plenty of storage and beds were comfy, we had a good sleep. The bathroom was a little dark but everything you need is in there and the shower is really good - powerful with plenty of hot water. The aircon in the room was the best we've ever had! Very efficient and a real good plus point - it doesn't switch off when you take your room key out of the slot, so room is nice and cool when you return. We had a meal in the restaurant, a good choice on the menu and not over expensive. Very good wine list too. We had a problem with our dates and needed to amend them last minute, I emailed the hotel early on the day before we were due to arrive and asked if we could come a day early. The problem was dealt with very quickly and when we arrived later in the day the receptionist was expecting us - very impressed :D Alvito looks like a really interesting village and we were disappointed that we only stayed one night so didn't have time to explore. Have booked to return next month for a longer visit.

Impressive and interesting building, somewhat sombre, centrally located in Alvito. Great courtyard. Plenty free parking available. Inside dated. Standard room fairly small with only 1 chair. Bathroom tiny with little space to put your things. Restaurant forgettable from the cafeteria style plasticized menu sheet to the very simple and course main dishes. Better have your lunch or dinner down the road. Breakfast not impressive either with little choice. Staff fine but not overly so. Alvito attractive and so is the countryside around it.

We booked through an internet site for 2 adults and 2 children. Even so, we sent an email to Pestana's reservations department and to the Hotel's reception, which confirmed it. When we arrived, we were in for a bad surprise. The attendant informed us, screaming, that the room did not accommodate our family. She suggested that we pay for a new additional room, or that we sleep on the floor, as she had nothing to do with the events. blaming the screams! Didn't try to solve the problem, just blamed us! The children, and a couple of friends were shocked by such a lack of professionalism. My kids have bad memories to this day. Anyway, out of the 2 PAID nights, we only stayed one, we didn't know the historical structure because it wasn't a walk anymore.....it was a stress, a trauma! Regrettable We frequent Rede Pestana, but in this experience we were wronged. I do not recommend it at all! I hope they take steps to ensure that such situations never happen again.

O staff é muito simpático, é sem dúvida o ponto mais positivo da estadia. Ficar num castelo é sempre uma experiência diferente, e não foi esta a exceção. Sentimo-nos envolvidos pela história de Portugal. O quarto era espaçoso e confortável, tal como a casa de banho, com água quente e boa pressão. A cama super confortável e bem espaçosa. Limpeza e arrumação impecáveis. O espaço da piscina é muito agradável e bem cuidado, tal como os outros espaços comuns. Pequeno almoço variado e com produtos de qualidade, buffet com constante reposição. O ponto menos positivo é a insonorização insuficiente, o que provavelmente também se deve às características do edifício. No quarto ouve-se muito o que se passa no corredor, nos outros quartos, os elevadores a trabalhar...o que, estando num local diferente, faz com que, pelo menos eu, acorde várias vezes até me habituar.

Fomos jantar no restaurante do castelo, onde estávamos hospedados. Fomos super bem atendidos pela funcionária do local, super simpática. Os pratos foram ótimos! Pedimos um típico da região alentejana que era com carne de porco. A entrada foi farinheira, deliciosa e também tradicional de Portugal
