Château de Perreux, The Originals Collection

Chateau was beautiful but this was more of a 3 star hotel. Room we stayed in was very musty smelling.

Hotel is ideally located in the Loire valley to experience the specific Charme of the region. It offers a pool, a wonderful park to walk and is very petfriendly. The breakfast is very good and the team was charming and warmly welcoming.

Olivier, the proprietor, was polite, knowledgeable and his English was fab…thank you Olivier! The chateau is just stunning, just outside Amboise. It’s quiet, peaceful with just the occasional hum of cars. Our hotel room (3) was a fantastic size and sympathetically decorated. Breakfast was plentiful and served by a lovely lady. The pear jam is homemade by Olivier and was gorgeous…I wish I could have brought some home! One little criticism is that there’s no restaurant and no bar, which is a shame when you return to the hotel and might fancy a last glass of red. Also, our toilet was totally separate to the rest of the bathroom which is a little strange… I would prefer to have the sink in with the toilet at the very least. However, these are small things and, otherwise, it really was a gorgeous place to stay.

Mixed bag. The grounds are beautiful, lush lawn, woods and flowers. Breakfast was delicious. People were quite nice and the common rooms were lovely and attached to caves.However, while our suite had large windows and a glorious view, it also had very dated furnishings (not in a charming way), with a stained old lamp shade and yellow wall to wall carpet that was just awful. One reason we booked the hotel was that we could dine onsite, but when we arrived we were told they no longer had a chef. The first night we appeared to be alone in the entire place, the door is kept unlocked and lights are mostly off. We were relieved when we noticed there was one other car. With some love and attention to details, the hotel could be wonderful.

Established on a cliff the castle is beautiful and misterious with the numerous rock cavities. It is a very nice place to stay but avoid room number 9. It smells like pickels. For the price you want something much better.

This château is beautiful. It is carved into a cliff and has a huge lawn and accompanying woods to explore. One walk in the woods dedicated to this hotel and you'll be transported to another time and place. In the late afternoon the light is dappled by the surrounding trees and casts a warm glow over the bridges, river, and meadows. The staff is professional and gracious. We ate 2 meals here, one dinner and one breakfast. They were both wonderful. The real standout was breakfast. Madamoiselle delivered goods that were fresh and either locally sourced or homemade. The jams and honey are divine, and both are made at the castle (bee hives located on site). During breakfast the owner stopped by to chat with us. He was an absolute delight. He is passionate about the chateau and the local faire. Be sure to chat with him on your stay!

Very charming and romanti place to stay! Warm welcome by the host! Beautiful rooms, nice garden with fresh vegetables that can be served for dinner. There is also a quite big swimming pool, the breakfast is very tasty and complete breakfast with local products! We will probably return!

First of all, it is important for me to explain what 4* or 5* mean to me: 4*: It is very good, I recommend BUT you should be aware of a few things before booking. 5*: Everything was amazing, I was blown away, you HAVE to go. With that in mind, you now know that we liked it and we recommend it. What we loved: - The place looks amazing, in a unique setting. - The people/service were perfect. Really, really nice, warm and welcoming team, which is not a given in France (I am French...)! - There are only 12 rooms (I believe) which means it will always remain quite quiet. - The swimming pool is big, segregated from the hotel and guests seem to prefer going out than spending time there so we were always alone in there. - The location is perfect because it is in the middle of all interesting places to visit. - The rooms are spacious and naturally cool in summer. - The Chateau is 5 min away from Amboise and all shops which is very handy when you don't want to drive too much to find a restaurant or anything else What we loves less: - The room we were in clearly needed attention. Nothing really bad but you would expect something higher standing and "fresher" for the price (stained carpet, "tired" toilets, no pressure at all in the shower, bath tub instead of a shower, Mini fridge just laying down on the carpet, etc.). - It may note be obvious on the pictures but there is a road going across the property, 30-50 meters away from the castle. It is not a super busy road but you will definitely hear cars during the day. Not a deal breaker, just need to be aware of it. - There is no bar in the hotel. - The 15 euros breakfast is a set, continental breakfast. You can order eggs but only boiled. We would have preferred a buffet or even more options, even for a higher price. All in all, we had a great, relaxing stay and enjoyed our time there. We recommend it.

We stayed for 3 nights and loved this place! Service was excellent - we arrived in time for a late dinner and the young gentleman at the hotel was able to secure us a dinner reservation in an excellent restaurant. The owner was on site each day and very helpful and personable. Beautiful hotel and setting. We walked the trails throughout the grounds. Breakfast -the food and service were exceptional each morning. Short drive to Amboise. Amboise was a lovely town with plenty to do for a few days.
