We didn’t actually stay but a friend did - we visited for the afternoon and could not have been welcomed and treated better. Masala tea and toasties were amazing. Mrs Bhandari is a wonderful wo***.

This was my second visit in two years to the guest house. This time as a group of eight people and the guest house welcomed us and hosted us brilliantly. Mrs B’s guesthouse is all about quintessential charm and traditional hospitality. The current Mrs B is the founder’s daughter and runs the place like a family home. Some of the staff have worked there for over 40 years. Make sure you embellish your visits to the Golden Temple, the Partition Museum, the Waga border ceremony with anecdotes and stories from Mrs B. It will provide you with an insight that no travel guide ever could. The rooms now boast tea and coffee making facilities and some rooms now have air conditioning for the hottest months. We visited in Spring this time and the garden was ablaze with colour. The food. The food!!! Don’t eat anywhere else and I challenge you to find a better Masala omelette anywhere in the Punjab. Everything can be arranged from here - car transportation, tuk-tuk, rickshaw, Tonga. Stop looking, you’ve found your home in Amritsar

Feel the rich history of this joyous oasis of calm in Amritsar. The rooms are a throw back in time, but super comfortable and well appointed. The grounds are enormous and a complete break from the hustle and bustle. A family welcome awaits you.

This is a no brainer if you’re in amritsar. Definitely go - and prepare to be treated like family. Its not a traditional hotel, but the charm and history will make you feel right at the epicenter of the city’s rich history. Don’t forget to try the freshly prepared food from the garden, and to sample the buffalo ghee!

Highly recommended by two experienced visitors to India I was looking forward to Mrs B's to end a short two week break in the sub-continent. This place exceeded all expectations. I have been 17 times to India from 2007-2023 so I've seen a bit of the place. Mrs B's Guesthouse is like a cross between your own accommodation with elements of a homestay thrown in, you choose how much. The rooms are simply retro-gorgeous. A generously sized property with its own extensive gardens and a few buffalo out the back (more on them later) is instantly appealing. From the moment we entered the gate Mrs B's daughter who now runs the place and her simply fabulous loyal staff could not do enough for us. Tea was served on the veran*** outside our rooms immediately and the most relaxing 4 days began. A simple breakfast is included in the tariff with other meal options available (including short notice lunches) on a paid basis. Every morning our marvellous host and her friendly and attentive staff served us breakfast. Omelette, eggs, toast, cereal, porridge, home made delicious jams and lashings of masala chai. Mrs B's daughter then chatted away with us. A mixture of wonderful advice and suggestions to go with what we already had worked out for our to do list combined with wonderful stories of her mother Mrs B and life in Punjab pre and post partition. This lady is wise and a joy to simply sit and listen to. Her staff organised transport to and from the Attari border ceremony as well as the station. Laundry, meals everything was just no trouble. We ate in the pantry, then had a tour of the "real" dining room and other reception rooms used for larger groups that just we three. Delightful. An absolute must is to order by 3pm for your evening meal "on premises". One night my friends had a roast chicken cooked in a fuel stove. I had a scrumptious mutton curry with a rare side dish made from parts of the radish plant. All produce comes from the garden on site. Then, dessert. Stewed guavas and ***goes with fresh buffalo cream from the girls out the back. Do I need to say more. This place is all that was and is still good about dear India. My friends and I left positive and happy with life and just on a buzz about our stay. We are still talking about it. Mrs B's daughter, her staff, the property itself, lovely location, just everything was perfect, really spot on. And the cost, embarrassingly reasonable. Do go and experience something different to how some parts of India are becoming. This is gracious living at its best.

We stayed for a night following a wedding whilst waiting for our flight, the staff were very friendly and accommodating, organising an early pick up for us and took us to see a new calf which had just been born. Our only negative would be that the lunch was expensive and compared to everywhere else in India we felt overcharged.

We stayed for one night at Mrs Bhandari's Guesthouse. The property is nice and we felt very welcome. There is a parking space on site. Our room was not very large but open to the garden and with air conditioning. The rooms are well equipped and one can feel there is a wo*** behind all this; nice little touches. Sure the electricity dates back from older times and this is not a 5* hotel. But the atmosphere literally takes you back in time to when Mrs Bhandari's mother created this guesthouse. That lady was a real character and the notices recalling her life posted close to the swimming pool are very interesting. Her daughter is equally interesting and is passionate about welcoming guests. We had dinner in the city but breakfast was very nice with seasonal fruits, chapati, jams and chutneys, and yoghurt. All was fresh and served to will. I really recommend this place if you look for an authentic stay in Amritsar with a colonial taste and a very friendly host.

Mrs Bhandari‘s Guest House is a fantastic place to stay - calm and serene, with wonderful food, lovely staff and the special character of a place that has frozen in time its charm of decades past, yet kept up with all the modern amenities that weary travelers might wish for. The staff, and especially the owner, provided us with great tips for sightseeing (in three languages!) and arranged our trip to the border ceremony and the Golden Temple. We cannot recommend this place enough!
