Beautiful setting, all the staff are very friendly. Good food and beers. Room a little cramped but that's to be expected in an old building really. Nothing more to say really but it seems I have to use at least 200 characters. Like being back in school :)

My daughter and I were booked for lunch, frankly I was grateful to be able to book anywhere for Boxing Day lunch at relatively short notice (5.12.24). The menu was reduced but I would expect this after Christmas Day, they were very busy but the team were attentive to our needs and we enjoyed their hospitality for the duration of our visit; we were T23 and our primary server was Autumn (Team Leader). I would highly recommend you visit this pub in the Butcombe Pub Group of Inns, I have been to others and not one has disappointed yet; Sunday Lunches are great.

What a dreadful experience, We booked this pub to meet family and have lunch on Bank Holiday Monday - we arrived and they could not find our booking and treat us as if we were the ones who made the error, we were then told there was a restricted menu and food would take 30-40 minutes. The Manager was obviously stressed and get saying it was hell and was really quite grumpy. The food came in 20 minutes and was overcooked and very expensive for what is was. I also noticed the next day that they added a service charge on the bill of 10% - this was not mentioned and the bill was on such small print I couldn't read it anyway. £4.70 for a lemonade seems a bit overpriced as did 5.25 for a non alcoholic beer It was a very disappointing experience and I will not return - I would recommend it be avoided

Popped in for a drink late Friday afternoon , used to be gem of a place , beer garden looks like it needs a bit of a tidy up considering a very good draw with river running through , grass overgrown , tables covered with seeds from trees , not that appealing , didn’t choose to eat , seems to have gone downhill compared to what it used to be , a nice country pub

We visited for Sunday lunch in April. To start off with, we waited a few minutes by the bar before anyone acknowledged us, despite two members of staff walking past us. The food was so poor. We ordered white bait and soup to start. There were only 5 very tiny white bait in the bowl, it looked like they had been half eaten, and not crispy, we actually couldn’t quite believe it had even been served to us like this. The soup was flavourless. The roast was fine, nothing special, however the cauliflower cheese was an extra £5 side, not included, unlike all other pubs in the area, and if it was a delicious cauliflower cheese we certainly wouldn’t mind but it was bland with very little cheese. The burger was over cooked and charred black all over, and tasted more burnt than burger. The cheese on top of the burger was a flat square of yellow ‘cheap’ cheese you can pick up in the super market 10 slices for £1. Really poor. We ordered a side salad, which was just romaine lettuce, no sauce and nothing else, and charged £5 for the privilege. So poor. Such a shame as this pub used to serve great food!

We were a large party of 21 people all coming from different areas for a family party. Unfortunately due to traffic we were over an hour late. The staff were amazing dispute this being hard for their kitchen staff. Nothing was too much for them the food and cocktails were amazing, rooms are cozy and comfortable with lovely finishing touches, and breakfast was 10/10 nothing was too much for the friendly staff so helpful. Lovely cozy county pub. No complaints!! Thank you

A very special day where nothing was too much trouble for Tammy and her team. Thoroughly enjoyed by everyone who joined us . Had a lovely sit down 3 course wedding breakfast and evening buffet . Fantastic meal and lovely service. Wow what a find this pub is, from the moment you walk in to the pub you are made to feel very welcome. We were greeted by a lovely lady called Chelsea, who was very friendly. The menu is lovely there is so much to choose from. The food and drinks came out very quick. Hats of to the chef the food was amazing. We will definitely be coming back
