Booked a table for 2, for Friday 23rd 6.30 pm, my wife ordered Cod in a sauce, I ordered sirloin steak well done, we were served by very pleasant staff, when the food arrived it looked appetising, my wife said the cod was nice but the sauce was thin and lacked flavour, but she did eat most of it, My steak was cooked to my liking, on the plate were onion rings mushrooms and grilled tomatoes, and a little dish of Diane sauce, the food was swimming in oil, the mushrooms were not edible or the grilled tomatoes which I doubt had ever seen a grill, they were just raw tomatoes, I called the waitress to take it back to the kitchen, she returned with the same plate of food still swimming in oil. Not good why are staff not trained in the basics, why would anyone let a plate of food out the kitchen swimming in oil, certainly a trained Chef or Cook would not We were not the only customers with problems a table not far from us, one customer had fish and chips when it arrived the fish was on top of the chips and of course the excess oil from the fish had drained onto the chips, an error that should never happen. We finished our meal with Rhubarb Crumble, tasteless tinned rhubarb

Perfect waterfront location, as you’d expect. Comfortable rooms. Friendly and extremely efficient staff. Excellent food in the restaurant, both dinner and breakfast. The veggie fajitas were terrific. Great breakfast menu. Lovely bright dining room with large windows and good views.

Saturday evening in Anstruther staying at the Waterfront Hotel. On arrival we were really impressed with our beautiful large room. It's just off the front street of Anstruther and we got parked right outside. Check in was quick and location great. We ate in the restaurant for dinner and had a brilliant meal and bottle of wine so would recommend that. Then wandered up to the Bank, sister venue of the Waterfront. Had a drink in here and enjoyed the atmosphere and pool. Back at the room we climbed into bed tired after a busy day. Sadly we got very little sleep as you can hear absolutely everything, people coming and going from the 5 other neighbouring rooms, people coming and going to the rooms at the rear. Could hear the people in the next room clearly having a conversation during the night. The next morning we were so tired we had to change our plans for the day and head home. Sadly this is a huge negative for us. Breakfast was great, the food seems to be the Waterfronts strong point. Chose to stay here based on a recommendation, it's reputation and the good reviews. However we won't be staying again as we value a half decent sleep. Partner did mention it on checkout and the lady did apologise but our trip was ruined sadly.

This was our second visit to The Waterfront and we had a two night stay in room 10. The room was so cosy and comfortable and the shower was fab. Service and food at brekkie was great, staff are lovely and very helpful. Next time we come we will try a harbour view room.

Service was excellent Wasn’t in a cooking mood as I’m a chef and have been at work all week so decided to treat myself to a breakfast out. I had the full Scottish breakfast it’s probably one of the best I’ve had the fried egg was perfect the coffee was nice as well it had a good blend. I found a bit of egg shell in my black pudding but the situation was swiftly sorted so not a complaint just bad luck for me. Will return soon

Only ate here. We all had fish and chips and we all enjoyed it. Fish was very large and delicious. Minor point. Would have preferred mushy peas but very good never the less. I for one am glad they do not allow dogs inside. This is a restaurant not a dog kennel for people who feel entitled to take their little pooch everywhere they go. Dogs are allowed outside which is where they should be.

So we've used The Waterfront for a number of years now, utilising their accommodation, breakfast, lunch and dinner services. It really is one of the East Neuk's little gems, and we keep finding ourselves re-booking it even before we check out! It offers the perfect base to explore from, and we always stay here if we're continuing our discoveries along the Fife Coastal Path. The staff are all delightful, and really couldn't be more helpful or accommodating of our every request. The rooms are warm, cosy and spotlessly clean. If you're fortunate enough to secure a seaview room, you might find yourself spending hours just sitting and gazing at the scene over the harbour, whatever the weather! In short, we would recommend The Waterfront to anyone! We have introduced family and friends to the place, and all are of the same opinion! Thanks again to the entire team.
